90' So close to 1-0. Holmes fires a ball across the box and Sarr steers over at the back post. 0-1. #cafc

Yet @Henry Irving and friends told us he was the club's best finisher?

    Ta for updates.
No I've always said that was Reeco.

Lee Bowyer said it was Sarr.

Has this thread had more comments than there were people at the game yet?

Almost exciting at the end when Reeco and Holmes came on but we couldn't score.

RHF sent Holmes clear who teed up Sarr who slid in and put it over.

Philips and Sarr up top last 60 seconds.

Overall disjointed display but Mascoll looks a prospect, Dijsteel useful and Clarke sharp but we never clicked and it was too easy for Pompey.

I'm glad the next game is away, just don't be on 5th December.

I've been to a group match so when we get to Wembley will look down my nose at all you glory hunters

Any top southern team. Unless it's an U21 team, in which case I think we get to play at home again because U21 sides do not play home games in this competition.

    Might be wrong there though.

If we get through the next round, then it's a free draw with no seedings or regionalised drawings.

Any team in the Southern section away who won their group. So we could get as far as Swansea U21s.

But I don't think U21 teams play home games in this competition.

So if we were to draw Swansea U21s, it would likely be played at the Valley.

Only in the group stage can this happen I believe

Pretty crap given the strength of the side we put out. No idea how many Pompey players were first teamers?

All I’ll say is if Magenis gets injured we have got a huge problem. Dodoo is woeful. RHF nowhere near ready and KAG is never going to do it at this level.

Mascoll is a definite one to watch. Also clear that Reeves and Clarke in the same team isn’t going to work.

Top two tiers of football will want rule changes next year so that they can't be knocked out in tje group stage

Shocking how few U21 teams actually went through, with the likes of Everton and Boro losing all 3 matches!

Not sure what that says about the U21 teams, whether they were as disinterested as we were, or just found the step up too much, maybe next season L1 and L2 clubs will be fined if they play too strong a team...

I think I would prefer to save my money for when we play their first teams in the league, next season.

Spent yesterday driving home from Scotland and attending an event at my sons college so didn’t check in to CL at all. On the train to work catching up and I can honestly say that this is the first time since I’ve been a supporter that Charlton have had a home game and I genuinely didn’t have a clue it was happening. What in the name of all that’s holy possessed Karl to play Holmes, Fosu, Clarke and Bauer? Vital players who should have been absolutely nowhere near this pile of wank.

Just to keep the EFL sweet over their silly rules.
