Pele is the biggest fraud ever.

525 of his goals were probably in someone's back garden in Brazil

I absolutely loved Romario as a kid but he's also well known for massively embellishing his own record in order to get him to his 1,000 goal. Don't think anyone truly knows really what his record stands out because he used every tactic possible to grow the number to make it seem bigger than it was
  • A good mate of mine has Terry Fenwicks shirt from the famous hand of God match.
As brilliant a footballer as he was he will always be a cheating ,wife beating ,drug taking fat c@## to me.

Was reading a 'debate' on Facebook, whether he was better then Messi and Ronaldo...what do people think?
The best player to ever play. Played like Messi in an era where protecton from refs was non existent by today's standards.

Of course people may say opponents would be quicker and fitter now days than what he faced but then so would he and they wouldn't be able to kick and hack at him in the way they did back then.
As Denis Law said, a good player would always be a good player regardless of the era.

I don't think Messi ever required this level of attention.

I don't know seems they both get a lot of attention...

Is that first one from a 100 Japanese kids v Barca game? You never see Messi that far from a team mate in a real game.
yeah and he made everyone of those kids look like mugs

I'm not sure what is more embarrassing. Scotland fans having Maradona on the back of their shirts or English fans not getting over something that happened over 30 years ago.

    the falklands are ours

    Aren't they self governing ?

I saw Madonna at Wembley in 1987. She was crap. Really don't know why I bought the tickets.

I saw him and they mentioned his goals record for Argentina:
    1977–1994 Argentina 91 (34)

After hearing this i was not really impressed, there is the old argument of best ever yet his goal ratio is 1 in 3. 1 in 2 club football if we were comparing with Ronaldo and Messi i assume they would beat that.

Due to cheating/ other reasons i dont really class him as one of the best but maybe thats because its not my era.
  • He was at the Fifa event last night called Best

I always thought the ballon dor was the world player of the year yet ronnie won the best player in the world last night

This is the second year that FIFA moved away from The French Ballon d'or after they merged a while back

My 1st World Cup memories are from 86, Diego was electric and will always be the greatest player of all time for me. The fact he was a cheating piece of shit just makes me like him more tbh! An absolute legend, although I only watched him maybe 10 times.

Saw a documentary where Steve hodge (I think) was talking about swapping shirts with him after that game. The othe players were furious with him haha!

On a related note, we were walking back from ninian park, after a defeat a few years back, and passed a geezer wearing an Argentina tracking top. He spat some abuse at us, but we had no idea what he was saying. Embarrassing beyond words.

isn't the balloon door voted by sports writers and Fifa world player by international managers/football associations and fellow players?

was meant to be a bit tongue in cheek, but i do think the bad blood between the 2 countries adds fuel to the maradona incident, been a few incidents between england and argentina on the football pitch.

Always wondered why Maradona is seen as the villain of the Hand of God goal, and not the referee or linesman who missed it. Simon Church did the same thing for us...

I’m pretty sure Garth Crooks did as well at Selhurst in the late 80s.
