Genuine question, would you ever revert to dumb phones?
I consider it all the time, problem is What'sApp and social media.
I'd never get hold of any friends or family.
I'd love to be able to though.

Would you revert to walking instead of driving?
I consider it all the time, problem is going long distances and carrying stuff and people.
I'd never be able to go to a place that's further than I could walk.
I'd love to be able to though.5 -
I only really use my phone for: Calling | Texting | Maps | Internet | Reading | Music
If I could have a phone that did just those things I'd probably consider it1 -

Hence my post about phones etc being god!
I might go on a retreat over the Christmas period, where all gadgetry is not allowed. I imagine it'll be difficult initially but it also might be liberating!

I would never give up having a smart phone. It does so much that I use every day.
Most importantly it enables me to run my business anywhere.2 -

Would very much consider having one for holidays, but day-to-day: absolutely not.
Only thing stopping me is not committing to the idea, and that I use my smartphone as a camera. If I had a good actual camera, could see myself doing it.2 -

I know someone who doesn't have a smart phone and it's a pain (for me) that I can't include them in whatsapp conversations but it is their choice.1 -

Yes i could turn the phone off and stay at home but then I'd also have to switch the TV, computer and wear a blindfold, it's impossible to get away from the phoney Christmas dross and cheer, I especially loathe it. Hence a retreat would take me away, momentarily from all that.1 -

I love Christmas.
I'm not bothered about all the phoney child in a manger, three wise men stuff but the real spirit of Christmas with the food and drinks and family and presents and football on Boxing day is great IMHO.
I don't like reality TV or talent shows so I walk out the room, don't like jazz, prog rock or heavy metal so don't listen to them. Don't like rhubarb so don't eat it.0 -

I've never made that many calls on my phones, but find the other features really useful. Indeed I'd prefer a smart phone that couldn't make calls to a dumb phone that could only make calls!0 -

Well unfortunately I don't have any family and that's why Christmas is difficult for a lot of people, perhaps if I did, then I might think differently.
I did enjoy the food but as I don't eat meat or drink anymore, my choice I know then a lot of that's gone out the window.
But more importantly, for me personally, I'm trying to remove myself from a lot of what our "look at me" society worships and going on retreat may help me.
Not for everyone I know. I just hope it will be an interesting challenge and with a bit of luck a rewarding one.4 -
