Hard to say... Their player had a lame attempt on goal and the scorer had sneaked through and just diverted it past Amos.

Guess everyone was caught out because they expected a routine save from the 'keeper from the initial - the fault is with whoever should have been tracking Roberts

It's a game that suits us, both teams trying to pass the ball. Should be winning, looked a poor goal to concede.

Half time. I could murder a Muller corner. Kids ate the last one earlier and all I'm left with is a plain muller rice. not impressed

If we had Thomas Muller on the bench we might been able to nick a winner from a corner.

We were largely comfortable. A couple minutes before the goal they had an attack down Solly's side which was eventually blocked, but he backed off far too far from the defender.

We desperately need to work on two things in training:
    1) Defending the crosses in 2-v-1 and 2-v-2 situations. Holmes gave Devlin about a day and a half to pick out the cross for the goal. Then just backpeddled when Devlin had the ball a couple minutes later and he was able to put another great ball in. This is a common theme. It's why Clarke is playing on the right tonight--to give Solly more cover. It's clear Holmes and Fosu have been tasked with tracking back more tonight (along with Clarke playing on the right), but it doesn't help when they just stand off the player.

    2) Runs from deep. Got undone by this against Wigan and Gillingham. This one was slightly different, but another one where a midfielder makes a run in and is not picked up. It's in part due to us dropping too deep. It's in part due to us not putting enough pressure on the ball out wide.

Apart from the last 5-10 minutes we were very good. Moved the ball quickly. Created good chances. Josh has his header brilliant tipped on to the post by Gillespie or it's a different game. If we start the second half the way we started the first the goal will come. Need to push higher up the pitch, the way we started the game. Walsall are there to be gotten at. We just can't let our heads drop. We have the quality, could just do with a bit of belief.

Sums our season up perfectly at the moment.
Now get a winner and change the fucking script

Didn't pick up the runner and he stuck his foot out to divert in. Poor goal to concede

who said we need strikers - fill the team with midfielders & we'll win every game.
  • Magennis' chance looked to me more like a poor header than a wonder save, good reflexes by the goalie but it wasn't much to his side and didn't seem to have that much power.

We will come out all guns blazing after KR does his best stirring Churchillian speech in his beautiful scouse tones. "We will fight them on the center circle, we will fight them in the penalty area, we will not be defeated, you get the drift"
Well either win 5-1 or have half the team sent off for fighting

We should but I'd feel more confident if we had better attacking options on the bench.

49' Free-kick to Walsall on the edge of the box. Looked like a tangle of legs more than anything else. #cafc

50' Great effort from Oztumer but his free-kick sails just over the bar. 1-1.

51' Roberts flick a Morris cross wide for the hosts. #cafc

Given we have been told neither is near match fit, anybody think this would be an act of desperation from a manager knowing his options are severely limited.
And most likely to end in longer setbacks. Remember Vetokele.

54' Close! Holmes is inches away from getting onto a short back-pass but Gillespie is out just in time to hack clear! #cafc

Must have taken up carpentry to pass the time whilst they try to get fit...
I hope they are careful with their tools if they lose Plane A - there's no Plane B.
