Finally, after making the bench last season, its congratulations to George Lapslie who becomes V846, the 846th first team Addick since we joined the league in 19210

Come on then give us a stat on debutants scoring and debutants from the academy scoring...Henry Irving said:Finally, after making the bench last season, its congratulations to George Lapslie who becomes V846, the 846th first team Addick since we joined the league in 1921

None.sillav nitram said:And how many of these were complete donkeys?
They all had to be decent to play professional football.
Francis though, clearly had the last laugh.sillav nitram said:

Joe Dodoo is the 80th Addick to score on his debut and only the 8th to do so from the subs bench.

With Mark Marshall about to become V849 tomorrow at Fleetwood I though we could look back to V001 Joseph Hughes.
Joseph Hughes has that special place in Charlton history as he was our goalkeeper in our first ever football league game v Exeter on 27 August 1921. Charlton won 1 - 0 so he kept a clean sheet too.
He played just 19 league games for Charlton that season before leaving to join Orient. He has also played for Tufnell Park, South Weald, West Ham (1911-1915) Chelsea (1916 - 18) and Bolton 1919 (finished third in division 1). His last game for Charlton was on 24 December 1921.
Attached are some photos of Joe and of some other papers and medals that the family let us take. The Miller Cup (see attached medal) was a fundraising cup for the Miller Hospital in Greenwich.1 -
