Gary Mackay-Steven

Aberdeen footballer has been pulled out of the River Kelvin.

Not sure of the details around how he came to be in such a distressful situation, so won't comment. But, well done to the rescue services and I hope he makes a full recovery.

I saw this on the BBC and thought you should see it:

  • Good grief.
Should we have a moments silence? Or applause?

  • Lucky boy, thank goodness he is safe and well - could have been much worse.

Mate of mine here in Oz was in the Fire Brigade in the U.K. and told me that call outs on weekends to rescue 'tired and emotional' revellers from rivers/ canals was crazy - and very dangerous at night.

    You're very precious aren't you.
  • Blimey, glad he recovering
  • surprised that to my knowledge, after or before a match, no-one has had to be pulled out of the canal/river walked along on the way to the NY stadium from Rotherham station .. no handrail, slippery cobbles, just made in heaven for pissed revellers to be lured into

This thread features excellent examples of how you do, and don't, make a crack about this kind of thing
