Snapchat - What's that all about?

I saw a tweet earlier that CAFC will be Snapchatting from the tour of Ireland so i downloaded the app.
I don't get it though.
What's it meant to do? How does it work?

  It is amazing. Love it, as a very grown up 40 something I love all the weird filters.

  I've tried to use it but my ugly mug keeps coming up and that's not good. It's not very user friendly is it.
