A shame Raonic and Andy aren't playing, but with both out it's hard not to see a comfortable British victory

Edmund lost to Pospisil so it's 1-1 after day one.

Kyle decided that it would be unfair on Sunday ticket holders if we won 3-0 and made Sunday meaningless!

Watching on BBC. First game Edmond at 4-4 first set. Edmonds totally useless so far. 45% serve percentage. Canadian player a bit injured as well. Commentators trying to blame speed of court . Way too many unforced errors. Bit better third set but ultimately gutless.

Missed the Evans game as it was online / red button / not very well advertised.

The deciding rubber is on now via Red Button BBC 2. Hope Edmonds shows a bit of fight and sprit in this match.
  • Currently serving for a two sets to love lead.

I think the Canadian is about to be disqualified.
  • Unbelievable as Canadian loses his serve to go 2 -1 down in 3Rd set and launches a ball at lightening speed straight into the umpires left eye. What a shiner and automatic default. Unbelievable Jeff

Lost point, hit ball in frustration, unfortunately the ball hit umpire in the eye. Disqualified. Edmonds 2 sets up so would have probably won anyway.
  • Edmunds had it won, but a shame for Canadian to lose like that.

    I've just seen it. Blimey!

And a shame for Kyle to "win" like that.
Took away his moment of glory

Looks a complete accident yet Dan Evans looks like he's pissing himself laughing around 12secs

If I was the umpire I'd be speaking to Andrew Castle about contacting First4lawyers.

France v GB live on BBC Two.

Edmund down one set to Pouille on clay in Rouen, but is at 5-4 in the second set.

Murray isn't playing due to injury.

Several missing due to injury though, no Tsonga, Monfils or Gasquet. With them available we wouldn't stand a chance. I still don't fancy our chances anyway

Any time Edmund gets an opening, Pouille shuts the door on him... Still on serve in the third set, 3-2.

France win the tie 3-0 after winning in the doubles too.

Oh well, there's always next year...

At least Andy won't have to play tiring Davis Cup matches for the rest of the year...

Thought Pouille played well, with some great drop shots. Edmonds didn't play badly just that Pouille was better. I like clay as a surface. France have a much better strength in depth & stronger club & regional tennis base than the UK & it showed.

Always going to be a difficult tie on clay, without Andy and experienced players for France. Still very disappointed but gives Andy time to rest and recuperate.
