Guardian sporting summary of 2016

https://theguardian.com/sport/blog/2016/dec/23/2016-review-sport-dichotomy-soaring-highs-desperate-lows

For those who don't want to read the whole article, this appears just over halfway down:
"The deeds of the formerly unheralded Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kanté were almost enough to make the nation forget the damage done to other historic clubs by such incompetent owners as Roland Duchâtelet at Charlton Athletic, Venky’s at Blackburn Rovers, Tony Fernandes at Queens Park Rangers, Massimo Cellino at Leeds United and the hedge fund Sisu at Coventry City."

We're still winning hearts and minds.

  • Only interested in the Premier League (and those Championship clubs aspiring to join it.) That's what generates money. Makes me laugh when they go all misty eyed and come out with the usual soundbites about 'romanticism and history' whenever that seriously devalued competition called the FA Cup comes round!!! God, what has become of our once great game, it's certainly not 'beautiful' anymore.
  • They worried Karl Oyston will sue them if they call him incompetent too?
  • This just makes me like The Guardian all the more.
