230-6
Loose shots from most of the England batsmen0 -
Bairstow out for 89, 258-70

Poor batting by most of the batsman. It looks like there's nothing in the wicket at the moment and we really should have scored 400+ as a minimum. We can still win the game with India batting last, but they must be favourites now.
We need our pace attack to run through the start of their 1st innings as well, which is possible on this pitch, but not likely.0 -
England fighting back from their 283 all out with India now 152-4. Now just need to get rid of Kohli.0
-
Make that 156-5 with a brilliant run out from Buttler - proving that wicket keepers are all round fielders nowadays.0
-
That throw from Buttler for the run out WOW0
-
We seem to have a generation of part time wicket keepers! Even Billings, a better keeper than Bairstow and Buttler, only plays as a batsman for England!Addick Addict said:Make that 156-5 with a brilliant run out from Buttler - proving that wicket keepers are all round fielders nowadays.

Whats happened to Bumble ? not heard him this series.0

Indeed - can you imagine Alan Knott or Bob Taylor doing that?killerandflash said:

It is how the game has changed though - Surrey have played as many as five in the same side - and it is because the batting always comes first. If you aren't capable of batting in the top six in a county side you have very little chance of making it nowadays. So, as a kid, you can have the best hands in the world but if you don't know one end of a bat from another you simply won't progress.0 -
Rested. It's a long season and we need to rotate.The_President said:Whats happened to Bumble ? not heard him this series.

From 148-2 at tea to 204-6. This England side in the last year or so has shown some real fight.0
-
Ooh, key wicket. We're still in this. And, they have to bat last. Come on, England.0
-
It's also a reflection of the poor standard of actual batsman in Test matches!Addick Addict said:

If your top 6 are regularly scoring 400 by themselves, then you don't need to pick bowlers and keepers because they can score runs as well.1 -
Pleasantly surprised as only two down when last looked. Obviously good karma for tidying up this morning from my sons 6th birthday party2
-
That is true but it goes back to grass roots cricket and how that has evolved. In the old days a keeper was a keeper from the age of five and remained so. If he could bat as well that was a bonus. You still do get those but then you get the ones who are batsmen and then become wicket keepers too.killerandflash said:

The same coach that recommended that Sam Billings when he was 11 gave up being a medium pace bowler, in addition to his batting, did the same with Seb when he switched at that age from batsman/leg spin bowler to batsman/keeper.
We have three keepers in Seb's age group squad of 15 who all bat which means that they have to share keeping duties. In Seb's case that works for him because it means he mainy bats at 3 and he would rather have it that way than keep more and bat at say 7. He can hone his keeping skills at school/club but needs the exposure to face the best bowling in the country to become a really good bat.0 -
Kids of today eh! I bet they left loads of cans and bottles all over the place.MrOneLung said:Pleasantly surprised as only two down when last looked. Obviously good karma for tidying up this morning from my sons 6th birthday party

I'm really enjoying this series. Two excellent sides battling it out.
England need to roll them over in the first hour tommorrow to have a good chance of winning this game and by lunch time or just after to have any chance. (you would think).0 -
Hameeb may be out of batting n 2nd innings - gone for x-rays , believe he may have broken finger0
-
396-8 so they are now 113 runs ahead.0
-
Stokes was just about to blow a gasket 'til he got Yadav eventually- three drops off his bowling, two of them in the same over.
414-9 and a big lead of 1310 -
417 all out so we have a deficit of 134
Only Stokes (5-73) & Rashid (4-118) took wickets0 -
We need to score in excess of 300 to have any chance. Big ask0
-
I think it will need to be nearer 400. This pitch isn't deteriorating at the rate previous ones have and we batted poorly in the first innings.blackpool72 said:We need to score in excess of 300 to have any chance. Big ask
Haseeb has a suspected broken finger, didn't field and following a net isn't opening. Root has taken his place at the top.0 -
Could've been a shout to stick Woakes up top.1
