Rudd: 6 didn't have much to do
Solly: 6.5 average performance, times he was the widest player
Fox: 6 booked early on couldn't tackle after that
Bauer: 6.5 solid

Holmes: 8 MOM kept on running, got the vital assist, most dangerous player
Ulvestad: 6.5 decent enough, poor touches late on though
Crofts: 6 poor touches to start with, grew into it
Lookman: 5 poor, moved to right and sulked
Magennis: 7.5 battling performance, booked for simulation when guy stuck his thigh out.
Ajose: 6.5 should have scored the 1 on 1, hit the post instead, should have got header on target, but missed it completely, game passed him by at times but he tried more than before.
Botaka: n/a few chances to actually do anything, when he finally got the ball in the corner he held it well
Novak: n/a very well taken goal, he actually looked up for it and harassed their back line alongside Magennis2 -

Crofts: 6.5 I actually thought, after a woeful, woeful first half, that he upped it in the second half
Lookman: 5 had a shocker tbh, spiced with the occasional slick move. never corners again.
Magennis: 7 good stuff really, put Ajose through, scared the bejesus out of their defence, could have had a couple himself
Ajose: 4.5 what the hell's happened to that 24-goal striker from last season, that header was sub-Spongefoot
Botaka - please start him. please. he's great
Novak - turns out he does have a purpose, and the quality crossing didn't all go in vain. but don't expect him to be able to kick the ball in the right direction2 -
Rudd: 6.5 distribution good
Solly: 7 good width and link up, sometimes dived in and got caught out
Fox: 6.5 could improve crossing and link up, but a useful outlet
Bauer: 6.5 dominated Evans, but a couple mistakes could have been punished by a sharper striker
Pearce: 6.5 distribution in second half good
Holmes: 8 , 1 man mission to provide crosses, great assist
Ulvestad: 7 first half looked sharp, went missing in second
Crofts: 6 average, one decent cross
Lookman: 6 good sparks but gave ball away at bad times and went missing on the right
Magennis: 6.5 tried his best but good saves against him and link up was tough
Ajose: 5 he will come good I'm sure, but still waiting. Novak deserves that striker role.

Solly 6.5 nothing spectacular but on the whole reliable
Fox 6.5 not bad,and was good to see him getting up for headers and not shirking out of it.Better.

Pearce 7.5 thought he worked very hard today,gutsy performance.
Holmes 8 MOM made a few mistakes but he absolutely bust a gut to get that assist to Novak
Ulvestad 7 Good first half,a bit leggy in the second but ok.

Lookman 5 not as sharp as he can be,poor corners,needs to mature in his attitude and be more hungry.
Magennis7.5 Love this player,plays for the shirt.
Ajose 6 think he needs to step up his game and anticipate/read passes better.

Novak 7.5 Good header and seemed to work harder today when he came on.

I am not marking, I see no point in Fox. Every time the ball to him he stops, hesitates and creates nothing. From his debut I have always said he is like the rabbit in the headlights. He seems to fear the ball going to him as he does not know what to do with it.
He is not the first to be on his arse with Ched Evans disappearing into the distance.1 -

Solly: 6. Ok. Up against a good player in Gardener.
Fox: 5. Not good enough.

Pearce: 7. As good as Bauer this week.
Holmes: 9. Always a threat. Full of energy till the end. Set up the goal.How his name is not sung more is a mystery.
Ulvestad: 7.5. Getting better with each game.
Crofts: 7. Don't normally score him high but played well. Seemed up for it, also seemed quicker today.
Lookman: 4. Shocking! Terrible corners and then sulked all game. Should have come off earlier.
Magennis: 7.5. Him and Holmes are our favs.
Ajose: 6. Could of had 2. Unlucky to hit post but header was a sitter.
Botaka: 7.5. A couple of lovely bits of skill. Has got to start.

Solly: 6- better second half. Looked like he cared.
Fox: 5 - usual mix of incompetence and effort. Better crossing than normal

Holmes: 5 - I thought he was rubbish. All runs down blind alleys and zero end product. Until the goal which was a brilliant piece of work and early cross.

Lookman: 3 - disinterested, petulant. Princess Grace (can't take corners)
Magennis 7.5. MOM. Just kept coming back for more.
Ajose: 2. Complete and utter dud. Up there in the annals of the worst performances I've ever seen (see Makienok v Ipswich and any of McClown's). Utterly and totally without point or purpose.
Botaka: 7. He's got to start soon surely
Novak: 6. Great header. Shocking shot soon after. Looks out of shape.
We won. But this was not quality football. Chesterfield were utter pants. I hate this league. Not my club any more. I'm out for a while.2 -
If anybody scores Fox lower than Lookman , they really should find another sport to watch.7

Bauer: 8.5 joint MOM very solid. Had Evans in his pocket and worked well organising the defence.
Pearce: 8.5 joint MOM very solid. There was one tackle which if he didn't make would've seen Evans through on goal.
Holmes: 8 someone criticised his forward runs above. He was the only player to carry the ball forward at times! They were scared of him.
Ulvestad: 6 not his day but things just didn't come off for him.
Crofts: 6 solid and unspectacular I the middle.
Lookman: 4 lacked effort and lacks confidence. -1 for them two first half corners that went straight out for a goal kick.
Magennis: 7 held the ball up well and could've scored if it wasn't for a great save. Always a threat.
Ajose: 6.5 hit the post and should've scored the header - that's granted. A player who needs to stay in the side. Needs more movement.
Botaka: n/a needed him a little earlier IMO. Was never working for Lookman.
Novak: n/a glad he scored. Hope he didn't cup his ear to the fans as the criticism he has received is justified. Winning goal.
We weren't patient, we were unimaginative - however I've seen us play a lot better this season and only get a point.2 -

Fox - 6.5 Said it before, Lookman offers very little protection to him. Looked better when he and Holmes switched flanks and Holmes was willing to track back.
Lookman - 4 Looks disinterested, doesn't work defensively and put two corners straight out, which is unforgivable. Reminiscent of Francis' two foul throws quite a few years ago.
Crofts - 6.5 Not bad, not good, he's just there.
Ulvestad - 6.5 Didn't quite happen for him today.
Holmes - 8 MOM Our only player who really runs at the opposition, excellent cross for the goal and he tries.
Magennis - 7.5 Never stops running, unlucky a few times.
Ajose - 6 Showed why he scored so many last season by getting into some excellent positions but failed to convert twice. Deserves another chance.
Novak - 7 Scored, harried the oppo. Good sub
