260-6 off 50 overs. I reckon 270 was the minimum they needed, so England to win.
All the bowlers did well, no standouts.0 -
29-1 Hales gone.0

Terrible attempt of a catch by their wicket keeper. Ran 30 yards and failed, the guy next to where the ball landed was a yard away0

The best thing was, I was expecting it to happen. Roy saved there.Todds_right_hook said:Terrible attempt of a catch by their wicket keeper. Ran 30 yards and failed, the guy next to where the ball landed was a yard away

A bit late but I've just noticed the game is free to air on the new sky sports mix channel.

When you contrast Roy and Hales, you wonder if a good performance in this series will get Roy on the winter tours as a Test player?
Painful watching Morgan out there, after Root's effortless batting. We've been carrying his batting for a while now...1 -
I didn't think Morgs was too bad - just playing himself in as he didn't need to go ballistic as we only needed circa 4 an over. But, must admit, his performances have been below par recently - maybe they will look to get Rooty in as captain in a years time, and then look to bring along the likes of Duckett,Billings etc.killerandflash said:When you contrast Roy and Hales, you wonder if a good performance in this series will get Roy on the winter tours as a Test player?

There's been a lot of talk about Roy as a Test player - someone pointed out that he only had a First-class average of 31, but someone else also pointed out that Trescothick and Vaughan had similar first-class avgs before being picked for England.0 -
Roy isn't a test match player, he would get out in a similar fashion to Vince. He will get a chance before bd and northeast because he plays for a more glamorous county.The_President said:

Morgs was struggling, which led to the desperate run and run out of Root who was scoring runs for fun!Todds_right_hook said:

As for Roy, I have doubts over him as a Test opener, but it seems off that Hales has been given loads of chances to justify himself in the Test team whereas his ODI partner has never been tried.
Indeed there was a case for leaving Hales out of the ODI team for this series, as to me he seems worn out mentally by his struggles to work out a batting tempo in Test cricket0 -
By all accounts it won't be long 'til 19 year old Haseeb Hameed
gets his chance as England opener albeit via the Lions.0 -
And Dan Lawrence. I'm sure Cook will put in a good word for him!Addick Addict said:By all accounts it won't be long 'til 19 year old Haseeb Hameed

On reflection, there is a heck of a lot of good young players coming through...
Curran bros - especially Sam, who is going to be an all-rounder superstar
Habeeb
Mahmood - Lancs quick
Duckett
Lawrence
Joe Clarke
