Euro/Pound exchange rate
I'm going to Spain in a month's time, shall I think about exchanging now or do you think the Pound will go strong again?

I just draw it out the hole in the wall and don't think about what I'm getting. For the sake of 500 - 1000 quid holiday spending money, your saving/loss is surely minimal4

Agree with Ibborg.
Just enjoy your holiday.
Rates at gatwick on Friday were 1.01/1.39. Shocking spread!
Use the hole in the wall when you get there.2 -
I agree with the lads above. I have just done 10 days in Tenerife and never noticed the drop in the rate.0

buy dollars instead2

Where are you getting 1.16 to the £?0
-
Book on line and collect at the airport0

Disco , shop around, the amount of euros you get to the pound has gone through the floor since Brexit, I got lucky and took a punt and bought the night before the Brexit, ( go with your instinct) if I'd have bought the next day I would have been 400 euros worse off, I've looked every day since I bought back in June and it's only gone down, I'm no expert on currencies but it will have to take something pretty hefty in the next month or so to get it going back up the other way.0

Just enjoy ur holiday and don't think about it
I'm just back from Rhodes and yes a meal out this year works out £35/40 instead of £25/30 last year but so what just have a good time1 -

Oh the irony of this thread and its first two contributors
But that's churlish. Sorry Disco. Agree with others, ATM when you get there, and take out maximum in one go, and put it in a safe. You get charged a fee every time you use an ATM7 -

I doubt that's likely this year, never mind in the next month.DiscoCAFC said:It is currently 1.16 Euro to £1 pound which is shocking!

The pound is poor acroos the board really. I was looking to buy a property in Sweden, but have had to put it on hold. When I last visited in November we got 13.4 Krona and now at 10.8 a drop of around 20%. That's a shocking fall when were talking a house price. Somehow they never had a property price fall right through the 2008 fall and beyond, they've just keep climbing. Was hoping we'd wait it out for a bargain, but not looking like it anytime soon.
As for Euro's i've got a Halifax Clarity Mastercard, which offer's bank exchange rate (almost) and no exchange fees even when withdrawing from cash machine's or purchases. When were abroad i just take cash out of machines as we go.
A good site for travel money advice.

Bugger! If only we'd thought of just ourselves and our holiday spending money when voting, instead of more important long term issues eh. Cheers for quickly pointing that out Prago...PragueAddick said:

Anyway, back to the subject in hand10 -
I'd have thought the value of sterling was a pretty important long term issue, that's why the UK did not join the Euro in the first place.
Travelling overseas is now significantly more expensive for Britons, but at least Nigel got to tell the Brussels bureaucrats to go fuck themselves, so that's worked out pretty well on balance.9 -

Is it going to be long term then? When you say long term, do you mean the next 5, 10, 20 or 100 years?Ormiston Addick said:I'd have thought the value of sterling was a pretty important long term issue, that's why the UK did not join the Euro in the first place.

I wouldn't give it to much thought. Just enjoy your holiday.0 -
Wait about 5 years and there probably won't be any such thing as a Euro.4

I always use these guys. Order online then pick up from a branch. Normally the best rate you will get. https://www.bestforeignexchange.com0

You can nearly always get better rates out there. I went to Cyprus this summer and the exchange rate was much better out there.0

I'm off to Amsterdam on Monday, haven't got my euros yet. I'm sure I'll get a good enough deal to pay for what I want over there.0
