I'm really not sure whether 'Enemy' is one of the best films I've ever seen or the worst. How bonkers is that?

I just came on to post something similar. One of those films that you feel you should like - due to some sense of assumed intellect if you 'get it'.

    I didn't.

Pile of shit. WTF was the ending all about?!?

Who is lolokay..when i went to see pulp fiction at the cinema with me ex, half the audience had left within 30 mins...i stayed just to see how bad it would get and try and get my moneys worth.

I'm a huge fan of shoddily-made B-Movies so I have a long list of films that would make most people's 'worst ever' list. My current fave is Raiders of the Lost Shark (imagine Sharknado on about 1% of the budget).

Silver Linings Playbook, Midnight in Paris, London Boulevard, Seven Psychopaths, Revolver, The Hours, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Filth, Now You See Me, and a lot more.....

How dare you try and slip The Grand Budapest Hotel in there !

Pulp fiction absolute drivel and over hyped film ever.

Widely regarded as one of the best films ever but lolokay

Donnie Darko - overrated emo rubbish
I was about 15 when it came out so I got all the overrated emo rubbish and really liked it, would probably hate it today.

I love horror films, but the last half an hour of them are normally tosh - Insidious deserves special mention for the astral projection stuff, that was a special kind of bad.

The film they had on the coach up to Cheltenham..Sunshine over Leith or something like that on so loud it drowned out my Ipod.

    Awful

Perhaps you should have walked the 500 miles...
  • The Spice Girls movie (Spice World), hilariously bad.

The Room is up there with Birdemic and so on. There's a movie coming out soon with James Franco about its production which should be fun.

The Mad Max hate is astonishing. I didn't realise people could see it that way. It's batshit crazy, sure, but it's a hell of an action movie, and it has a brain.

Also surprised by Vanilla Sky getting multiple shouts. Pulp Fiction? Blimey. A movie's hype doesn't have any bearing on its standalone qualities.

Prometheus is a mess but it has some very good qualities that almost redeem it.

If Enemy made you feel stupid, that's not surprising - most of us felt that way. Should it mean that Villeneuve shouldn't make abstract movies? Hell no. There are some really good explanations as to what Enemy was about, and it made me like it a lot when I got it. I understand there's a major issue with the storytelling if you require an explanation outside of the film, but I found it fascinating.

And as for your question; the lead character accepted his fate as a family man and refused to succumb to his basic fear.

Mary Queen of Scots, which says more about me i suppose when it had Glenda Jackson and Vanessa Redgrave in it.
We went on a sunday evening and I did not realise it was going to be over three hours long. When it finished we hotfooted it into the pub next door just as the last bell went. I guess that tipped the balance.

  • Shine a light. the rolling stones.
Fooled into thinking this was going to be a serious in depth interesting documentary by Martin Scorsese. (liked his bob Dylan one, no direction home) Instead I get a concert of Mick Jagger prancing around in front of an audience made up of hand picked model looking hipster rich kid Americans and celebrities, none of which seemed to know much rolling stones material. it was for bill Clintons charity though but as a film a load of shite.

This thread seems to turned into 'films which are loved by almost everyone except me' looking at 90% of the replies. Or just films that aren't even the genre you would seem to enjoy anyway.

I went off at a tangent earlier.

The worst film that I have ever seen (30 mins of) is definitely Dude Where's My Car.

I recently had the misfortune of seing this piece of Jane Birkin/Serge Gainsbourg crap: Seven Deaths in the Cat's Eyes imdb.com/title/tt0068415/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_69.

I always like a good B-Movie or movies that are so bad that they come good, but this really was exceptionally bad.

  • The Spice Girls movie (Spice World), hilariously bad.

Whats worse is I went to the Cinema to watch it so could actually give you a "like" for your comment as it is truly bad

As was 2, to be honest. And probably 1. Not sure why the hell I keep watching them.

If you can yank your plank over it then it's a good film, regardless of how terrible the acting, direction, production and storyline are.

Showgirls is up there with One Flew Over The Cuckoos Next, Casablanca and Citizen Kane as one of the greatest ever.

    50 shades of Grey.

before you ask, I went under protest with my wife, as it was Valentines day. Sometimes, you've gotta take one for the team.

    Jack and Jill (Adam Sandler)
Truely awfull movie. I switched it off about half way through and only ever regretted putting it on in the first place.

    Lethal Weapon
Seriously, I'm expecting abuse for this but one of the most idiotic films I have ever seen. At one point on a crowded motorway, Mel Gibson holds a machine gun over his head and opens fire in a vain bid to shoot a guy running away. Disney films have more plot and are better grounded. Plus Mel Gibson is an arsehole.

Seriously. Made me question everything, and not in a good way.

I'm not necessarily a blockbuster-hater, though - Max Max: Fury Road was fucking amazing, obv

Seen some right shit down the years, will have a think. But TDKR was just such a load of incoherent noisy nothing (there's an open goal here if you can be bothered to swing your leg)
