Best burger I ever had was at a family run diner in Newark - New Jersey around 25 years ago and have never had a better one since. Talk about a square meal I ate at about midday and didn't eat another thing until the following lunch time.0

Best burger I’ve ever had.
While traveling in America, came upon the Tamerisk restaurant in the very non-descript town (or American City) of Green River on highway 191.
Not much else to attract passers-by to stop apart from the most delicious burgers in the restaurant overlooking the Green River.

No, I'm with the other corporate behemoth on that stretch of the A4. The Globe used to be the 'Polish Pub' and the food was diabolical, so you must be right re. ownership. Maybe we ought to give it another shot. The one by the station...that place will never update, I suspect.Gammysnr said:

There's another pub that did a great burger menu a few years ago, a half mile away. The Lord Nelson? I think that's what it was called. It became a gastro pub last time i went there, but the old burger menu was excellent. Used to have 'The Bulldog' burger. Bacon and egg on top. Lovely.0 -

Best burger I've had recently was at the London Beer Dispensary in Brockley. Superb.
Burgers at the White Swan in Charlton Village also very good these days.0 -

Never has a jingle "Tempting and tasty food at Supermac's!!!" ever been more inaccurate.
I think I've eaten there about three times in my life and every time have regretted it, I prefer a microwave burger.
Mind you, I think that Eddie Rockets are part of the same group as the Abrakebabra chain, which is very hit and miss (the hit most often being the sauce onto your shirt when you are attempting to appear sophisticated in front of the young ladies on your way home - inebriated, moi?).

Had a half pound dirty burger off one of the stalls at the St Lawrence Ground last Friday, rammed full of onions and cheese. No good for me at all but highly enjoyable.0

Going international...
US - Chubby's Barbeque (MD), Flamingo casino (LV), Five Guys
UK - CAU, Buckowski Grill and probably Honest Burger worth a mention.
Elsewhere - Makamaka (Barcelona), Moaburger (Krakow)
It's hard to say, but I find that great burgers are one of two things... either pure unadulterated filth - bacon, double patty, shed-load of melted cheese, fried onions, OR, basically a classic 'BK Whopper' type burger that is just patty, crunchy salad (red onion, lettuce, tomato) and a great burger sauce.

Used to have the "heart attack burger" back in my old clubbing days (between 18 and 22)
Turn out from the club, take a left and there was a burger van...
It was:
Bun,
1/4 pounder,
Cheese,
half a jumbo sausage sliced down the middle then across.
Cheese
Donner Meat
Cheese
Other half the jumbo sausage
Cheese
1/4 pounder
fried onions
'special sauce'
Bun.
Just used MFP to find out that was 1400 calories. I'd have that with a bottle of water and chips so around 1800-2000 calories in one meal
No wonder I went through a chubby stage!
However I did walk the 6 miles home from the club every time.

I spent last weekend on the Norfolk Broads and had probably the best burger of my life at the White Horse Inn, Neatishead.
It could have been that we were very hungry and parched but it was amazing.0 -

I wouldn't touch it now, but it seemed to taste so good when you were pissed. I only ever wasted chips. It put me in a decent coma the next day when crossed with booze. I wouldn't awaken until it was nearly time to go out again.Greenie said:
