You shouldn't be wearing a replica shirt to football if you are an adult

Quite often find that grown men wearing replica kits smell of BO

How do you know what Obama smells like?

No man over 35 should wear trainers .

My wife says i'm too old (42 but look a lot younger!) for white trainers , so you may have a point
personally i think you're both wrong

as for the shirt each to their own , i'll wear one in the garden when playing footy with the kids

What I find intriguing about statements like this is that people usually throw them out there without offering an alternative. Maybe I sound immature or uncultured for not having very broad footwear horizons but what is a 35 year old supposed to wear then? I'm no where near that age but just so I know what I'm allowed to wear when I reach it. Am I allowed to wear trainers to the gym? What if I'm going to the pub? Do I have to wear my best black shoes and polish them beforehand? If I'm going to my mum's for lunch can I slip some trainers on for the car journey or is that a no? Do I have to wear army boots or slippers?
Didn't someone also say on here once trainers should not be allowed at football matches? Should we all be going barefoot?
To me, trainers and joggers are largely about comfort. Do I have to sacrifice comfort in the name of social norms when I reach 35?

I always get the newest shirt for crimbo or a birthday. I only ever wear it when playing footy at training or in a five a side league. I dont wear them on matchdays and i dont really know the reasons why! Each to their own though and if people wear them it doesnt bother me. Unless, im abroad and see a bloke in a charlton shirt...Ill always acknowledge a fellow addick abroad.

Men ! Over 35 wear a nice comfortable new buck leather casual shoe ( rock port, timberland, etc or a deck shoe with no socks ) or a suede shoe or brouge. Other fashion advice is available. Repeat no man over 35 should wear trainers, unless engaged in a sporting activity !

Personally, I wouldn't wear white trainers once I hit a certain age. Nothing wrong with a pair of suede Adidas though.

Navey blue suede Puma's are OK, only wear white trainers when popping up the local shop, driving or washing the car......I guess I've hit that 'certain age'.
  • I only wear white trainers with my joggers and hoodie. But I only wear them when I appear on Jeremy Kyle.

Is it acceptable for adults to wear a retro England shirt? Really want to wear the 1990 England shirt I found in the loft, will i get sniggered at being 30 years old?

Good shirt that one, from a great tournament. I think you're allowed to wear that one regardless of age.

Do what you like, life's to short to care about whether someone else thinks it's acceptable for you to wear a football shirt.

Depends how much weight you've put on in in 26 years.

Considering he would have been 4 in 1990 I would imagine he's gained quite a bit of weight!

I suppose you could sow some poppies or perhaps a rose. I doubt they would grow though.

Not sure anything's gonna grow very well on a polyester shirt, be a real struggle even getting anything to germinate.

Could sew or embroider a new design on a shirt tho, that could work nicely

Retro shirts are fine, replica ones are not.

I've got the 82 England top.

I was well into my thirties by the time replica kits became popular for adults so never got into the habit though I remember wearing one on holiday in the Algarve and it was a dead giveaway to those bloody timeshare crooks that I was an Englishman abroad.

Stumbling across some of these posts make my heart skip a beat. Damn these old threads!

Is that the original one or the ones umbro were still reproducing when they had the England contract?

As long as you don't go 'full kit wanker' (see https://twitter.com/Full_KitWanker ) then who cares what you wear?
