Hi all

I'm going to Turkey in 2 weeks time (yeah I know) & wondered whether it best to buy currency (Turkish Lira) in the uk before travelling or would I get the best rate in the country I am travelling to?

Any advice greatly appreciated

    When I last went it worked out better to exchange it our there. This was 3 years ago mind, so things might have changed. Over here I find these guys do a good rate. www.thomasexchangeglobal.co.uk

    Last time I was out there they was quite happy to take Sterling and Euro`s

    coventgardenfx are pretty decent for exchange rates and delivery

    Apparently the best rates are offered by specialist fx credit cards to be used abroad

    The guys based at Waterloo station usually offer a better rate if booked online beforehand

    With Turkey its always better to take a small amount to get you started then exchange your money locally as your get a much better exchange rate. Lots of places exchange money as well as the banks. I was in Gumbet last year and even the restaurants exchanged at a better rate than the exchange offices

    I've ordered a few Lira's online & will buy the rest out there or use £'s

    Believe it or not, the best rate was from 1 of the airport currency exchange places. Turns out if you pre order from them online & pick it up at the airport, you get a very good rate. I always thought the airport currency exchange places just ripped you off!!
