Remember the Leicester game and afterwards leaving the ground and seeing a line of angry away fans ready to kick off outside. Never moved so quick in my life.ricky_otto said:Few that spring to mind are are all away games.

0-1 Graham Stuart. Was in the home end and promised myself I wouldn't celebrate, but did and was slung out.
Favourite 'home' game was when we beat Leicester 2-0. David Whyte scored a great solo goal. They brought what must have been about 12k with them.
Also remember going a lot with my Grandad the season WH finished 3rd in division one. Went to 3 game in a week they won all of them 1-0. I also saw them beat Newcastle 8-1 and Alvin Martin scored a hattrick - each goal against a different keeper (inc Peter Beardsley). for family reasons I've always had a soft spot for West Ham and we've always managed to do quite well against them.
Worst Upton Park visit has to be the 5-0 hammering on Boxing Day.0 -
Leicester invaded the pitch before the game that day. They came right down to the north bank goal mouth. They could have been promoted but we went on to beat them 2-0.
For some reason I didn't have a season ticket at Upton Park but it was cheaper to use the 'under 14,s' turnstile for £5. The same operator every week and he was almost blind. I was 18 and got in every game for £5. I watched blokes with beards get through that turnstile. My sister came to a couple of games and got in through that turnstile. She was 241 -

I was mascot for our first game at Upton Park so that is my best memory although there were plenty of others during the 91-92 season-we had some brilliant players in that team and it was a real shame we missed out on the play-offs.
As an away fan, the Graham Stuart winner in our first Premier League season was a good day-a brilliant atmosphere in our end. Less happy memories of the 5-0 and the Dowie 3-1 when Konchesky goaded our end.0 -

Two of my sons were the West Ham team mascots (v Everton) on the night of the opening of the Bobby Moore Stand. A great night for me as Moore is one of my football 'heroes'. Also it saved me loads of money on clothing as the boys wore their (admittedly expensive) team kits to destruction.0

Two totally non Charlton memories.
It was only on the very rare occasion I would go to West Ham, I used to talk a couple of mates in to coming to Charlton and used to return the compliment by going to Upton Park with them. This however was without the knowledge of my parents, going to the Valley from Abbey Wood as a kid not even in my teens in the late 60's early 70's was just about ok but crossing the water on my own... no hope.
The first time I ever went was the very early 70's and West Ham were playing Leeds. Leeds were all conquering at the time and during the game the West Ham goalie broke his neck, right in front of me. Ferguson might have been his name but my memory was getting in the ground to find it was packed to the rafters and we could see no way of getting down the front. Next thing I was scooped up, a shout of kid coming down went up and I crowd surfed all the way to the front, I loved that experience surfing down on hundreds of blokes outstretched arms, brilliant! The front was too packed so I, along with dozens of other kids, was allowed to watch the game on the cinder track behind the goal!!
The next time I went was a year or two later, and remember, my parents thought I was at the Valley. West Ham were playing Arsenal. Bobby Moore still captained the Hammers but by now Alan Ball had moved from Everton and was captaining Arsenal. This time we got there at 1pm for when the gates opened but by now my mates had started watching games from the chicken run and we managed to get a spot on the halfway line right at the front. When the game was due to end I was desperate to do what I did at the Valley, that was to run on the pitch. However, there were a lot more coppers there than at the Valley in those days, but on the final whistle I seized my chance and darted between two coppers and was one of about another 30 or 40 kids that made it on to the pitch.
Next day, and Sunday afternoon in our house was always the same, sunday roast dished up right on cue for the start of ITV's big match with West Ham v Arsenal the main game that day. As the game drew to a finish, the the final score came up on the screen and to my horror, there was the unmistakable figure of me legging it across the pitch in my green parka, brown corduroys and my cherry red DM's but dad did not appear to have recognised me. Then it happened, my dad chocked on his roast potato and hit me so hard all at the same time whilst pointing at the TV, there I was in full glorious close up walking towards the tunnel in between Bobby Moore and Alan Ball, both had there arm round me asking if I enjoyed the game with the commentator saying what a lucky young man I was to be with two world cup winning greats!!
Took me years to earn my dads trust again!12 -
The year and a half we spent there were great, as Smudge said being at the back of the North bank was brilliant, we had a great time, the social club, tube journeys, the south bank in the 'away' fixture with West Ham was mental, that Leicester game, John Hendry's goal unbelievable and Webbo's half volley against Bristol City. Great memories.2

Who were we playing that day was it West Spam?
Remember driving past the speed camrea on the London bound A2 going up the slope just before Danson in August 2012 at about 68mph and braked sharply. Never heard anything. Besides which your speed camera may have done someone else.0 -

Leicester game was immense for all the tight reasons, the result, the atmosphere and the little pockets of scrapping, but most of all the bloke in a rooster suit,
The 1 nil win over Millwall with the Tottenham loanie goal

Getting there from Woolwich after the dire slog to shit Hurst we had to endure for so long
I for one only have fond memories of the place it's a proper ground, was always an atmospheric intense ground, I like intimidating venues and West ham Always made it that

Leaburn put in some great performances during our stint playing there. In one game he dropped into midfield to cover an injury for the second half and started spraying the ball around like a cultured playmaker. That was bizarre.
Good atmosphere standing on the North Bank, particularly night games. Demolishing Bristol Rovers 4-1 on a Tuesday night comes to mind.
And.......Ken's cafe just up the road. Great pre-match fry up.1 -

The social club with the 2 old hits on the door. The journey to and from was always good fun. This was where so many of us first started going together. There was a good 50 to 60 that used to jump about at the back of the north bank. When pardew scored against West Ham. And we was no1 at Upton Park.1
