One of those laws that makes sense and is needed, but can easily be used to convict kids who (whether rightly or wrong) are sending risky photos to people they're actually having sex with - perfectly legally too. It's also a conviction you really wouldn't want on your record either..
With the likes of Snapchat being available today it's clearly a law that requires a bit of modernisation, or applied with some common sense and discretion.1 -

More that you have a decision to make stay with someone who is unable to do many of the things you now legally can. Or move on in life and don't be stuck with a younger person who can't just go around freely in the world due to needing parental consent and being stuck in education hopefully whilst the 18 yr old Is free to do what they please
