Poor Atmosphere

How can we all sit here and criticise the players (well mainly Fox it seems), yet our own performance for what was probably our biggest game so far this season was shocking! We was dreadful in the stands today. I'm not surprised the players weren't up for it.

It was a big game with a pre-season friendly atmosphere.

Sure, if I was getting 5 grand a week at my job and people didn't sing my name just for turning up, I'd be pissed off too.
In fact I might go on strike.
  • Mate I commented last week if i performed the way they did I'd be sacked. And that they earn more in a week of chasing a ball then most of us in 2 months. But there was no atmosphere before the game or when it started. Don't cheer on individuals but cheer the bloody team on. If none of us could get up for it then surely we are down??

If we are down then as a fan I'm happy to take my responsibility it was my fault today. Will RD, KM and RM accept theirs for the other 45 games?

I got up for it. I wish I hadn't but I did. I went and saw my team play like crap for majority of the game against a relegation rival. from the first whistle. I saw how inept we are at attacking and how fragile we are at defending. I went and saw my fellow supporters stand up in protest because like me they realise that this club is being destroyed in front of our very eyes. i will always try to support my team but my god do they make it difficult.

To be fair the atmosphere has been poor at The Valley for years now. Sure , we have our moments but they are very few and far between.

I thought Blackburn was much better. After last week's result, you would have expected both the crowd and players to be "more up for it" at the start at least

So why did everyone who is unhappy start buying stuff from the food outlets again ? Don't get at all why this can't be a permenent stance.
  • What a difference a week makes, fans were awesome at Rotherham last week. Today certain fans around me couldn't wait to give mak and bergdich a hard time. Atmosphere completely fell flat after about 15 mins.
Everything about today was shit, effort, singing players performance and banners protest.
If we are to get out of this it needs a joint effort. Players and fans.

Oh I'm sorry. Do you not feel the customers are giving enough in return for their "match day experience"?
  • I think some of you couldn't have been here in the 80's and actually had a real worry of if the club would be playing football the following week. Grow up and distinguish the difference between protesting against RD and KM and cheering on the team on the pitch.

Ive tended to go through the motions in most matches this season. Watching us play is no longer enjoyable. A majority around me say the same thing. The connection we used to have between fans and players, save for JJ, CS and JC has gone and KM is to blame for such a high turnover.

The club has changed and it's hard to identify with, let alone actively support, what is occuring on the pitch.
For me, the situation is like this: "Okay then, Roland, so this thing before us is the thing of your doing, so come on, Mr. Big Idea, show us how it works, given that you're so clever and know it all".
Of course, you don't think it's clever at all. Whilst you wish to be entertained and see a good performance, you know it's all about a money-man making money, and you also know that what you see before you is so hugely inferior to what you enjoyed, for the most part, in the past.
So we sit there, thinking "I really don't like this at all". And the atmosphere's as flat as a pancake and the absentee owner doesn't give a flying toss.
Duchatelet was bad news from day one. Pity that more didn't see this at the time, and make a fuss about it some 18 months ago.

I think for all the good the protests will do, the real indication of supporter....sorry customer feeling towards the owners will be through season ticket renewals. Suspect they'll be a large incentive for fans renewing by an early bird deadline.

Poor atmosphere but then maybe it would be better if we had more than one shot on target the whole game.

Roland is destroying this club and I'd be surprised if we got more than 5000 season ticket sales next season.

If it helps, CARD explained last week that intermittent boycotts of the catering would be more effective, as the overheads would remain at the same level, and this would mean more pressure from the caterers on the regime.

Personally I sat there thinking I really can't be arsed to watch this sort of shit performance anymore and left with ten mins to go. I really wasnt that upset that we didnt get back into the game because at no stage did I really expect us to. I cant even get up the enthusiasm to read VOTV.

I hope I can get my usual Charlton fanaticism back, but at the moment I feel that Its not really worth the effort to go. I've seen us put out worse teams, but the present situation and this regime, has sapped my enjoyment, and love for the club. If a season ticket holding, Valley painting volunteering, CAFC mad supporter for 40+ Years feels this way god knows what a more casual pay on the day fan must be feeling.

Support works two-ways sometimes, the team didn't do enough to earn it today really..

Unless side-ways passes turn you on..

Losing 1-0 at home doesn't bother us that much, it's just the lack of drive, the lack of belief, the lack of quality and the general lack of passion that runs throughout the whole squad that really makes this season different to any season back before RD, I've never felt this much amount of apathy towards our club before.

Spot on, last weeks result briefly encouraged me to go but that enthusiasm has been drained away, and now meh!.
  • This was probably the most important game of the season. A win could have pulled us to within sight of safety. It was off the back of a tremendous result and performance at Rotherham. Yet the only cheering that I could hear on the commentary was from the Bristol fans. For Christ sake what is wrong with our fans? Put your hatred for the regime to one side whilst the game is on and get behind Riga and the lads. If we go down it would be an absolute disaster. The atmosphere was as flat as a pancake. I know the football is crap, but it's our job as fans to attempt to lift the players, not destroy their confidence. There is now such negativity on this forum and obviously within the supporter base that it has become like a cancer that is spreading and killing our chances of survival. Roland and Miere are going nowhere quickly, we are stuck with them in the short term, that is the sad reality. Yes they are destroying the club, but the fans, by not getting behind the team, are making things even worse.

The majority of our fans were not at Rotherham or Birmingham away and therefore they've probably only witnessed one Charlton win since August (Sheffield Wednesday).

The fact that people are still turning up deserves a ton of credit FFS.

Noted in the past atmosphere drops when the drummers not there! Maybe mistaken but did not hear them yesterday. Next game Cardiff somehow gotta re create type of atmosphere there was when we beat e'm 5 - 4!

The fact that our wins now come away from the Valley say it all, the players hate playing at home because of the toxic atmosphere, isnt rocket science

Maybe we need cheerleaders to lead the cheering, problem solved.
