Always seemed a bit weird to me, that having been instrumental in getting us promoted, he left the club before he could play for us in Div One. I also found it weird that we re-signed him in 1984 (for £50k) when we were absolutely skint and about to go out of business!0

I'm sure I read somewhere that Lawrence tried to sign him a couple of years after we let him go following an appearance he made in a testimonial against Spurs.
