Maybe a drop will do us good!

Yeah - it worked out really well last time.
And we wouldn't be back in 3 seasons next time with these clowns in charge.28 -

No chance. If we drop down we won't be coming back in a hurry. Look at Sheffield United, they've been in league one since the 11-12 season and under this regime there's absolutely no reason to think we'd be any better than them6

You were saying it was a possibility that we'd get promoted a couple of games ago. The squad had potential and we'd climb the table
Now you are saying we were poor, we need to get rid of the "deadwood" (sic) and going down would be a good thing.
And you have the need to start a new thread every time.
Think you might be trying just a little too hard to get a reaction.

The only thing I want to see drop is Roly's name off the club ownership paperwork...5

After how badly this lot underestimated the Championship, I fear for what will happen in League One. No it will not do us good, it could be a complete disaster. Also, if we have any dead wood, it's because RD and his cronies brought them in. On top of that, what makes you think they will bring in any seasoned pros? They've failed to do it when we are in a tougher division, they'll just throw more foreign imports at us expecting it to be a breeze.2

I think some nutter trots this out for every club that's near the relegation zone and the answer is no, relegation will not be better because;
-There will be a contraction in finances
-Katrien was recently lauding how well she'd done at tying up the majority of the squad on multi year deals so I'm not sure how we would clear out the "deadwood"'
-Charlton are a less enticing prospect for a potential new owner in league one
-We'll be in a far weaker position to attract fans who might otherwise be tempted to go to watch West Ham at the Olympic Stadium if we start two divisions apart (although, of course a according to Katrien this isn't s risk)
-Our exciting young prospects will far less inclined to stay with us for a season (or three) of being kicked around at Fleetwood & Oldham when the big Premier league teams come knocking.
And that's just off the top of my head. So no, you couldn't be more wrong, relegation at this point within the current context will be one of the worst things to happen to this football club, it's almost a perfect storm from which we will struggle to fully recover, ever.12 -
We dropped to L1, we cleared out dead wood and came back to the champ with a decent squad to build on. Instead we got rid of the core of that team and find ourselves looking to try and do it again. It makes those 4 or 5 years a waste of hard work from the club and SCP.10

I wouldn't bet against us dropping again, to League 2, with these muppets in charge.1

Relegation would be total disaster for us. We could even end up going down again to League 2. A lot of the players we have at the moment would not even be able to cope in League 1 let alone the Championship. They simply don't have the stomach for it.
I remember back in 2006 when it became obvious that we were going to get relegated people were saying things like..." Oh, that's okay, we will piss it next year". Look how that panned out!
I have seen us get relegated 5 times up to now and I don't want it to happen again. We simply have to stay up this season.5 -
Last time we got promoted out of league one I think we got very lucky. We had financial backing at the right moment (didn't last) and had a manager motivated and wanting to do well for "his" club. A captain fantastic and all the fans on board. It was the last time that all this came together.
Should the worst happen and it very well might. None of the above barring Johnnie Jackson would be in place and we all know his legs have gone ;0)
Just look at Sheffield Utd still waiting to come good. It's a very tough division.5 -
maybe their plan is for us to keep getting relegated until KF finds his managerial level.alan dugdale said:I wouldn't bet against us dropping again, to League 2, with these muppets in charge.

Not prepared to accept the premise that we would come back up as others have posted already.
Which of course is why we have to fight to get 'change now to survive in this league'. I think a public call for a vote of no confidence in KM and a time frame for a new manager\coach needs to be activated as soon as possible.
This really is not working, and change needs to be addressed now, we need to unite as supporters and send a clear message to the board.
Hopefully enough like minded fans will rally behind this position. To accept relegation without a fight is not the answer.

I cant wait for the derby's against Bromley and Dartford. !!!1

If we go down this year I believe the damage they have done to our club could take 5-10 years to repair.
Look at clubs like Tranmere & Grimsby always been around our level when I was growing up, I do believe we could follow them.1 -
I totally agree with Ken. Surely something like that needs to be a statement from CAST and all the other bodies in that meeting A few weeks ago.2

Relegation would be the end of the club, can see us rapidly droping to league 2, and on down under the present owners. If we do get new owners it will probably be to late for hem to stop the decline if relegated, are support is bleeding away and I fear will not come back.3

That's fair enough I guess but don't think anyone really believes anything significant will change in January to arrest this slide into League One.WestCountryAddick said:

What would happen if we got relegated would depend upon the strategy adopted by our dear owners. Invest in people who have experience of the division and English football (as Cash did) or continue with an obvious failing strategy?
Unfortunately I expect the latter.
