  • Good Test this, hard to call.
  • Pretty evenly poised at this point. The morning session tomorrow is crucial

Anderson strikes to dismiss Malik LBW who didn't appear to want to play a shot.

He doesn't appear to want to play at all now...

Perhaps he'll come and join he's brother at Bexley CC.
  • Ali bowled for a duck by Anderson.

Hafeez now 109* out of 166-4
  • 229-4 at lunch and a lead of 157

    Hafeez 145* (246)
    Misbah 31* (73)
  • It looks as though we might be clutching defeat from the jaws of victory

Misbah out! LBW to Broad, 247-5
  • Hafeez gone too, caught in the deep by Bell off Ali

    257-6 and a lead of 185
  • 319-8 at tea so Pakistan are 247 ahead

    All three results still possible

I said initially anything more than 250 in the fourth innings chase will be too much... My opinion hasn't changed
  • Broad cleans up Shafiq

    Pakistan 282 ahead
  • A run out to finish the Pakistan innings.

England require 284 to win and will bat for 22 overs tonight.
  • 284 is possible as the pitch hasn't deteriorated, but I wouldn't bet on it

No more than one wicket down at close gives us the slightest hope..
    My pred: 87-3 at close
  • Ali takes a bad one on the back of the head and is somewhat dazed. Currently having treatment but looks OK to continue as he's asked for a replacement to part of his helmet.
  • I know I keep banging on about Anderson & Broad but their spells in this match must rank as right up there with the greatest by an opening bowling pair in a Test match. This hasn't taken place in the comfort of Lords but in front of a sparse crowd in conditions that aren't conducive to toils of this nature.

To put it in perspective their combined figures were:

    77.1-44-126-11

As against the rest of the team who produced:

    116.2-16-446-7

I don't think we will truly understand how lucky we've been to have these two bowling for us over the last decade 'til their career is over. Hope they both have a few years left in them.

  • Ali reviews LBW
  • Out.

    34-1

I'd be very surprised if Dinger was there by close
  • Pakistan review a not out LBW against Cook
  • But he survives - just
  • Bell bowled by Malik
  • Another LBW decision reviewed by Pakistan - this time against Root
  • Umpires call so Pakistan have lost both their reviews
  • 46-2 at close and another 238 required on the final day.
  • It could be a fantastic day's cricket tomorrow.....or we could be all out for 120 by lunch. Nicely poised

    Sadly, probably the latter Chrissy
  • Bell needs to go, but there aren't exactly batsmen queuing up for his place sadly. Taylor deserved a go and I like him but who's next in line?

Means we need a 2 and a 3 realistically - Moeen is not an opener. Think Hales will get his chance opening, shame he wasn't given a shot here in at least one test rather than the baptism of fire v Saffers. Not convinced on him but he deserves the shot.
