Southeastern train disruption (franchise to be taken over by Govt p191)

heads up all of you south eastern users - over the period between Xmas and the New Year NO trains will be going into London Bridge, Waterloo East or Charing Cross. Your trains will either be diverted to Victoria or terminated at Lewisham/New Cross. Festive fun ahead.

As a father whose son works for Network Rail on track and who will be working over Xmas and New Year because doing it then, causes the
least disruption to the travelling public. Half the City will be shut down for a nice weeks holiday. When else would those that are complaining suggest the work be done?.

It's all about mind control. What you've got to do is to keep all thoughts of running water, flowing streams, the sea, fountains, swimming pools, rainfall, waterfalls, a tap dripping, in fact anything that might make you pee, totally out of that mind of yours.

Otherwise it could be a bit embarrassing.

Ha, was one of the new trains with no toilets. Was considering my options and if it went on much longer I was going to search out a bottle and tie my suit jacket around my waist !

Pssst (couldn't resist that one)...You know there are toilets on the other side of the concourse from the Wetherspoons at Cannon St don't you @AFKABartram

When i am on holiday would be great if you could let him know.

I think that's the thing that really sticks in the craw, they close all the major stations and if that's your usual route then its hard luck, they still want full price for the ticket. If they gave people a reasonable discount when they close stations then there'd be fewer complaints I bet.

Its not just as simple as closing parts of the line down and keeping others open.
You need to be able to ensure a safety margin for staff woking on the track with things such as third rail isolation, then you need to consider where are the engineers trains going to go etc.
also, there might be multiple locations where work is being carried out, each needing its own engineers trains and wagons, heavy on track machinery as examples.
During the Christmas/New Year period, you would be surprised how the numbers drop off in the "rush hour" and most people outside of that time dont really care where they get off, as long as its in London and they can get the tube.

Nightmare getting to Canary Wharf this morning. Made better by the two women who had a tear up on the platform at Canada Water. Not sure what it was over but am guessing pushing in.

You can better your bottom dollar the person I work with will be moaning good style about it to the point she will probably refuse to come in and then bang goes my break down by the seaside. That's why im selfishly upset.. I wouldn't give two shits otherwise as I'd just get the dlr.

Well I would feel for everyone who has to get to hospital to work/visit etc.
