Reckon he could do us a short term turn in big maks absence. Only a stop gap though.

Wasn't there a rumour back in our Prem days that we would sign him? Anyway, I hope we do for no other reason than so we can sing the Hokey Cokey song.

  • Not a goal scorer but have always rated him as a hold up player, great touch and very good in the air.

I always thought he was a bit of a Geordie Leaburn, good target man, but never scored enough in his career to make him anything more than a squad player for Newcastle
  • Obviously he's an old man now but he did score around 15 I think when he was in this division with newcastle

I'd sign him just to add a physical presence up front.

    Better than an injured Mak.

Had trials at Bolton, Hudds and Wolves? But not taken on so why was that? Wages? Fitness?

As he's on trial Guy can have a look.

Bolton said he did well but was too similar to what they already had

Better than a fit Mak I'd say.

Even when Mak is fit, we need cover for him on the bench.

We've badly missed a hold-up player in the frontline.

It's been the key imbalance in the squad. Didn't have a big No.9 last year. Now we've got Mak we look lightweight when he's injured. Would be a decent back up if he's got the desire.

Not at all convinced by this idea. Also suggests Mak is a long way from being fit.

If Mak has torn his hamstring twice (has he?).....then he'll be out for ages.

How long has this bloke been around now? He's like English footballs answer to Bruce Forsyth.

I'd sign him. Bit of experience up front, could get the odd goal or two. We need options.
  • I'm in the Hokey Cokey camp, always rated this fella, not an out and out goal scorer, brings others into the game, I felt for KAG yesterday, looked a bit out of his depth, and a youth team player pushed into doing a task that was too much for him, we could do no worse than Ameobi, we could do with a big lift right now, because we are dead dull, and not picking up points.

"we could do no worse than Ameobi" Harsh

  • Has only played 15 games in 18 months - by the time we get him match fit it'll be too late

Your right, it did come across as harsh, ( to be fair look at what time I posted!)I think he could be a good signing, always rated him at Newcastle, seems like a positive lad, we could do with some positivity at the moment. Used to love seeing his back flips when he scored a goal.

Released by Newcastle, and Seemingly not wanted at palace, I guess they've got Bamford, who they haven't used either, if he's fit, he's certainly got lots of experience, he could bring to our forward line, could be a master stroke, sign him up till the end of the season Katrien.

We sorely lack creativity and an and out goal scorer, no idea how that's going to be addressed?

Did you mean we could do a lot worse ?

Could not agree a deal at Bolton so sounds like personal terms
    Neil Lennon:

“We are still looking to find a player or two, just to add to what we have already.

“You want to get it right. We felt Shola was similar to Emile Heskey and Gary Madine.

“Although he did very, very good, finances are tight here so we want to make sure we’re spending the money on the right player.”
