7 October: Saluti, okrzyki, Saúde and aclamaciones!

edited October 2015 in Fun, Jokes & Captions
Every single day of the year is an anniversary of something happening. A birth, a death, an "event", a coronation, an execution, an invention, a crime, a moment of sporting genius, a national tragedy. And every place on the planet is a point where geography meets history: everywhere, something happened.

For instance, we all know on the 5 December 1992, in London SE7 at seven minutes past three in the afternoon, a footballer received a pass from a player of limited ability, looked up, shot and scored.

And, just after five o'clock in the afternoon, on 26 April 1947, the only Scotsman on a football pitch in Wembley volleyed home a late winner.

Point to any place or time and you can find an historic moment which it commemorates. Except...

On 7 October 1582, in Italy, in Poland, in Portugal and in Spain nothing happened. Absolutely nothing. At all. So, on the 7th October, charge your glasses, shout out a hearty "Saluti", "okrzyki", "Saúde" or "aclamaciones" to commemorate all those people who took part in absolutely nothing at all, on that day!

Very interesting Chizz. Never knew that. Though could you technically answer that it wasn't a case that nothing happened as it didn't exist?

    7th October 1582 never existed.

It was when they first implemented the Gregorian Calender from the Julian Calender and 7th October was one of a kind of 'leap days' and didn't actually happen.
