Sad news for such a young family

Horrible news. RIP Peter.0

Hi from Nebraska. I grew up knowing Peter since we were both small and still count him as my closest friend even though we've been on different continents for the past 10 years. I've only had time to skim this thread so far as it's pretty late here and there is a memorial service at the university tomorrow. Just want to say how moved I am by all your comments. Neither he nor I posted much but we both read Charlton Life daily and I know it was a great way for him to keep up some with his club.
I've just travelled over from London today/yesterday with Peter's dad and sister and will be passing on your comments to them and to his wife.
Tomorrow (Wednesday) will be very well attended because of the person Peter was and the professionalism and enthusiasm he put into his job which was all borne out of a love for the beautiful game. (Of course Red Red Robin will be played tomorrow)
All who knew him will appreciate your thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time.42 -
Just seen this. My heart goes out to his family and friends at such a tragic loss.
RIP fellow addick.0 -
Thanks for posting at what must be a terrible time for you Mike.
This thread really does illustrate how the posters on this site act like a family - we argue together, we joke together and we grieve together.
Like many here, I never knew Peter, but this has hit hard.
The injustice of the incident and the sadness that such a young family have lost a father is soul destroying. The fact that we identify with this fellow addick and the glowing reports of Peter's character make it harder, not easier, but this man has left the world a richer place than he found it.
Stay strong for yourself and for those members of Peter's family that you know. Hopefully you and they will take a crumb of comfort from the thought of so many good wishes from this side of the pond.
All the best.
RIP Peter.10 -

Haven't been on here for ages and just saw this. Heartbreaking.
RIP @USofAddick and my deepest sympathy to his family. Some lovely things written about him by so many.0 -
Really sad to learn about this tragedy. He sounded like he was a top class person and someone that we could all look up to. I feel proud to have had him representing us Brits and Charlton out there in the States. My condolences to all involved.1

I did not know the man, but did know he was part of the Charlton Life community and posted here. I was -- and am -- in awe of what he achieved in his time over here. The challenge of coaching a women's non-revenue sport in a large university is unique and seems particularly stressful, for head and assistant coaches. The men's football and basketball programs tend to occupy most of the university's attention and student athletes in other sports perform at their apex in relative anonymity with comparatively minor resources available to them. @USofAddick seems to have thrived in this environment and played a substantial part in the development of many elite athletes -- a few of whom will be playing in the Women's World Cup in Canada this summer. I was looking forward to Nebraska's (known as Big Red) visit to the local college this year and had hoped to say hello in person. Our deepest condolences to Peter's family, friends, and students.11
