strange comment ... if people have heard of a song and it does 'make the hairs on ones neck stand up', why does that make them a music snob?se9addick said:
Music snobs are second only to wine snobs in their annoyingness !brogib said:Is this a thread to list songs that make the hairs on ones neck stand up, or a thread to list the most obscure songs possible? Ffs

and long may it continue ... I have come across a lot of music I wouldn't have known about it if wasn't for that threadAddickted2U said:
The "today I will be listening to" thread definitely seemed to be for obscure songs. That's partly why I got this thread going again.brogib said:Is this a thread to list songs that make the hairs on ones neck stand up, or a thread to list the most obscure songs possible? Ffs
Still, some cracking choices amongst them. Keep them coming. I've researched a few, but some Lifers are certainly showing their age including me.
That said, J J Cale Don't Cry Sister is an obscure 1979 classic.
10 years after I was born, but I was introduced to Cale in the early 90s when I started listening to Eric Clapton. Clapton covered one of his songs and I learned about the connection.
I would recommend anyone checking out J J especially if you want to chill out.2 -

I will say that as with art, I like what I like with music, and I imagine it's the same for most. A lot of what I like is reviled by my friends and Mrs Shabby, so I own headphones now. If anyone wants to start a thread about music that raises their hackles (there's one in the charts here about some woman demanding to be strung up from chandellier) I will happily fill it with chart music. That's just me ;-)1

Any musos who write will get this, when an audience sings along with one of your own songs....nothing comes close.....ever!0 -
There's nothing better than listening to 'hoppipola' by 'Sigur Ros' whilst drinking a lovely glass of El Somo Rioja, Reserva 2009. I find that the Cherry and Vanilla notes of the wine really compliment the Avant-Garde and experimental nature of this Icelandic track as it attempts to break into mainstream.se9addick said:
