He certainly wasn't popular by me or most of the people I talk to. His treatment of Morrison, his obvious arguments with Jackson and Buyens, the detiorating team spirit, failure to defend Hi failure to have much in the way of tactics except slow sideways passing.
Some many of the things that have come sense against all ring true. If it was Damion who spoke to the Board, thank goodness!5 -

When you've got a bunch of players who know they can leave at the end of the season they are never going to care. A bit like if you were leaving your job in a few months, do you really care about your performance and the effect it has on the company you're working for. That's why the loan system doesn't work unless they are young and hungry. Also players like TBH and Bikey know they could leave tomorrow and find another club. These players won't care unless they are integrated into the club, like the team under Powell were. Yes they weren't the most talented, but they worked their a**** off for Charlton on the pitch.20

Can I summarise, Roland has saved us financially. Apart from that the lot of them seem to be a pain in the ass. I look at Joe Gomez and see a great talent for the future. I suspect that Roland looks at him and sees £ signs.6

Yeah, but at least you can be sure Roland will get as many of those pounds as possible for him. I think it depends on the individual attitude of the player. Just posted this on the Watford Post Match views but perhaps just as poignant on this thread.
'If only we had a Manager who could hand pick his players with the right values and understanding of what this club is all about. One who would put his arm around them make them feel part of the family that is Charlton Athletic.'
Invite them to the Valley with their other half for lunch to savour the atmosphere and history of the place and get them to buy into the whole ethos of togetherness from the outset...............Oh hang on a minute we had one of those, wonder what he is doing now. :-011 -

Belgians are TOTALLY different from the Dutch. There was a short silence on the line, and then he said "I pity you, Richard". Later I stayed overnight in Gent with them and he took me to a "proper" restaurant. First time I ate a flower as part of my main course…
On the other hand whenever I cross from the Netherlands to Belgium on the Thalys train I get the slight feeling that I have moved from order into chaos….0 -
That chaos part is certainly true. And in the southern part even times three. Belgium is a strange country.0

The 'take away' opposite St Truiden's ground had queues round the corner. The only edible things wee the chips.
However this is balanced by the qulaity of the beer.

Nothing wrong with Belgium food. Bit stodgy but that is fine. Abbeyye in Bromley is good.
Had a great Indonesian in Holland too.

Fresh cherries stewed in cognac then 'enrobed' in Belgian chocolate + 3 pints of Belgian beer, a lovely hubby and a warm evening in Bruges. Who cares about the food?2

I am in a town called boom right now about ten miles from Brussels and the food in belguim is shit the bars are shit in this town and I can't wait to get to Paris weds, for a decent bit of grub
Brussels was really nice though but there's a funny smell in the whole place like cabbage boiling
But is it any wonder when this is on offer in the supermarket
