Could have legs now its on the Daily Mail... they usually get it right with us dont they?

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2884344/Charlton-Athletic-close-loan-deal-Standard-Liege-forward-Tony-Watt.html

They used to, when Paddy Collins was there, because he is a Charlton fan. Now he's retired, treat it with a pinch of salt.
Collins still writes a column for the MOS

    He could re-light our season

Only if he has electric pace and can keep the ohm fans happy.

    Watt a poor joke.

Why don't we just sign suarez?

He's got a bit too much bite when attacking
MrBligh just knew he would get a nibble when he posted that question.

Lets wait and see what happens, he might arrive with a different attitude, no point in assuming he isn't going to be any good.

No. If it was, it would be titled "Andy Delort" (:

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting it to come out different.

    ;-)
  • Looks pretty certain this one's gonna happen...... suppose we have to wait and see how he play's, don't care for his attitude if he can keep that to himself for 90 minutes on the pitch.. not sure he's quite the right mould but you have to use the tools your given.

Let's hope Big Bob got a complete Black & Decker set for Christmas then.

I'm sure he will have liked what he saw in the second half.

Was told today he has been training with us, looks like this is a runner.
OK, he has attitude and such like, he is another Standard Liege cast-off/player in need of rehabilitation/superstar (delete where appropriate), but my take on him is simple.

He needs to make sure we get points, simple. He needs to turn the draws into wins, and the defeats into draws.

No excuses, no hard luck stories, no if's buts or maybes, if Charlton Athletic are obliged to continue to take network misfits then if it doesn't mean points, then it doesn't mean jack-chite except we're being exploited.

Anyway RD pays the piper and all that, but there are ways to alienate long standing loyal fans, if we have to 'do things a little differently', then let it lead to wins and points not the processing of other teams players.

He's definitely on his way to us. Was watching from the stands in a full Charlton tracksuit. Suspect he'll make his debut in the cup game next weekend.
  • The picture of him wearing Charlton gear can only mean he is on our books now.

He's scored 20 in 70 games(could be better, could be worse), so regardless of the 'dodgy press' that has been flying around about he needs to be given a chance.

He's played for Celtic and played in the champions league. On paper it looks a promising signing.

heard someone say Standard would be paying his wages whilst he was here, if so then surely its a win win
  • heard someone say Standard would be paying his wages whilst he was here, if so then surely its a win win

But therein possibly lies the problem.

Charlton may need a player and Duchatelet/whoever say bring one over from the 'network' so it saves on a transfer fee.

It's only a win win if we win.

Surely if we get a player like Watt without us using any of our wage budget surely its a no lose situation, if he plays well we have a good player for the rest of the season, and if he dont he is used of the bench like Bulot and we have more depth on the bench

at the end of the day if it costs us nothing I am all for it

But isn Scottish football only division one standard? Well, that's what most of the football "experts" in here say.

Obviously hope things work out but the reality so far is that every manager he's had for club and country has said he has an attitude problem and is a lazy git. Yet we're so desperate because of the chafe we have upfront it's the old "Bob can sort him out" desperate comments by the fans. Will be a great if Bob can sort him out because there is obviously a decent player in there.
Still at least he's young and cheap, that's all that matters at the end of the day.

Wasn't "Owenwiththehat" the young lad who got loads of pictures and inside info during a pre-season tour a year or two ago? Seem to remember he got a few scoops, or am I misremembering?
