Four sign up for Charlton book event at museum this Sunday (Dec 21st)
Four supporters who have turned their passion for Charlton into a labour of love will be signing copies of their respective publications when the club’s new museum opens to the public for the first time.
The event, which runs from 10.45am to 2pm on the third floor of the stadium’s north stand, has also been timed to coincide with the Young Addicks Christmas Party.
Paul Breen, Rick Everitt, David Ramzan and Richard Redden will all be on hand to sell and sign copies of their books, while supporters can also browse the fascinating range of exhibits assembled by a team of volunteers. There is no admission fee, although fans may opt to donate to the museum.
Breen’s book, The Charlton Men (£9.99), is a novel about two young men whose personal story is played out to the background of the team’s 2011/12 promotion campaign.
Everitt’s Battle for The Valley (£9.99) is an extended version of his 1991 account of the history of the ground and the club’s struggle to get back there in the late 1980s and early 1990s, including the story of the Valley Party. The book now includes the emotional return on December 5th, 1992.
The view from the stands is also an important feature of Ramzan’s Charlton Athletic - A History (£16.99), which has been compiled with the help of supporters’ groups as well as the club’s Former Players’ Association, and like his previous books is well illustrated throughout.
Redden, meanwhile, focuses on the earliest days of the club with the only hardback title of the four, The Addicks Cartoons (£11.95), featuring the graphics that appeared in the local press before the First World War, together with a wealth of fascinating background information.
Visitors to the museum and book signing should use the door adjacent to the east stand turnstiles on Harvey Gardens.
Please note that Breen's book is temporarily out of stock via the Amazon link above, although it can be purchased as an e-book on Kindle for just £3.59. Paperback copies will be available at The Valley on Sunday.

Just to be clear, all four of us will be perfectly happy to sign copies of books already purchased elsewhere, but we will have copies on the day for those who wish to purchase. All of us would also like to thank the museum trustees for their support and congratulate them on their achievement in getting this facility up and running.0

We'll also be selling some of the signed photographs, similar to those auctioned on here previously. We have a lot of current players and some former greats.
We also have about 12 sets of the the five Valley party postcards and some "memories of Sam Bartram" books.
The FA cup medals and Clive's ball from the play-off final are not for sale : - )0 -

So, anyway, I got in touch with Young Addicks to ask why my son hadn't received his invite for the Christmas party, because I want to dovetail that with this signing, and they're claiming he isn't a member, even though I've paid for the second year running and he received a welcome pack, for the second year running. So they're basically saying I have to pay £16 to attend. No big deal, but he is a bloody member.0
