Not particularly spectacular goals that have just stuck in your head

Just those goals that for some reason stay with you.
For me it's Pringle's deftly flicked header to make us 2-0 against Chelsea. Game over. Think it was the way he ran off after getting it. Pure delight.

  • BWP's goal at Carlisle was hardly spectacular. Seem to remember that one for some reason ;-)
  • Pringle versus Newcastle in the prem.
  • Against us - Duff's goal for Blackburn at Ewood Park always sticks in my head.
2003 I think it was. Remember getting thumped 6-1 at home by Leeds the week before, still going to get tickets after that game for Blackburn away, going up there full of optimism and losing. Singing "we didn't lose 6-1" and conga line along the seats. But that goal really sticks in my head.
  • The 2nd goal v Wimbledon at the valley when we had lost the previous eight games on the spin. It was a comical Sunday league type goal, but it meant so much to us at the time.

    Konchesky's lob against Liverpool.
  • Bryan Hughes against villa, really thought that was gonna be the start of us getting out of trouble!!!
  • Di Canio penalty against Arsenal.

I think I know the one you mean. If so, I think it was snowing and I was terrified of the ref taking them off, just as it looked like we might actually win a game. I think the Pringle goal mentioned above was around the same time. That was amazing, even though I think it only got us a point. I remember it because some scrote in an Arsenal shirt stole my favourite Charlton hat straight off my head as I walked up the hill afterwards.

Sodjes header for us against Leeds I think, that Fulham goal that came from a free kick that should have been a throw in to us in the prem, a JT right footed cross to Darren Bent Bent Bent in front of the Jimmy Seed, he seemed to hang in the air for ages. Wordsworths shot that didn't wander lonely as a cloud but instead floated over Hamers outstretched hand. Weaver being chipped when we got pummeled, Charlie Austin putting Parky to the sword, Joe anyinsah coming on, scoring on his debut and pointing to his own name on his shirt, iwelumo getting the ball to his feet, turning a man and scoring in the bottom corner, then doing the exact same thing later on that day

The Mark Fish shot at Sunderland that hit 3 of their player on the way into the goal.
Did they score 3 own goals that day ?
  • Pawel Abbott against Peterborough
BWP header vs Yeovil to win one nil, was my first ever away game
  • Both Jeffers goals vs Villa

Andy Hunt's last ever touch for CAFC.

He was substituted immediately and as the camera focussed in on him in the dug out he said "I'm absolutely fucked".

Crying shame he wasn't able to get over his delibating disease.

Bartlett's winner at the Kop end at Anfield meant so much to me.

Never thought I'd see little old Charlton winning a league game there.

Closely followed by Mark Stuart's winning goal at the Stretford End at Old Trafford.

    "Atkinson Out"
  • Johnny Robbo's goal against Man U, Barness's own goal where he chipped Bolder at Upton Park, that goal around 94 when the referee ended up in the net?
  • Ray Treacy scored one of the first goals I ever saw. Can't tell you who it was against but he was no more than two yards out with the keeper in front of him but had the presence to dummy him as if to shoot and then chipped it over him as he dived.

    Not spectacular but absolutely class.

Andy Hunt - my favourite striker at CAFC ever, just because he was great in the air and on the floor.
Technically a very gifted footballer and what a header!
I was also gutted he couldn't make it back.
Spoke to him a few times via his blog when he was running his adventure travel Company in Belize - Charlton legend

Harry Gregory when he punched the ball in the net in 2-0 home win vs Rotherham United - made it look like he'd headed it as ref was blind side - never mind Maradona's Hand of God!
I remember the pitch that day was saturated and so badly cut up - today's players would throw a wobbler if they had to play on that (come to think of it, The Valley for much of last season!).

Shaun Newton's surprise tap-in in the 1st minute of the home play-off semi against Palace. A sublime, if premature, moment of ecstasy followed by 179 minutes of immense pain (still referring to the same play-off semi-final in case anyone's wondering)
  • Tommy Caton Pen against Boro Away, the old Ayersome Park they scored 86th min to make it 1-1, then we got a Pen, really didn't care if we scored as they were like fcking Rabid animals.

Yep remember him tucking that away nicely and avoiding bottles .

Aged 13, didn't tell mum I went either.
  • Norwich goal to win promotion from L1 when we totally outplayed them the whole game

I remember I was watching Soccer Saturday and Kamara was at our game. I remember when they went to him when the goal went in he said 'it was a crap shot from Fish!'
  • Andy Reid against the massives, we were 2 nil down and I believe that was the goal that sparked the comeback. He shaped to shoot left footed but cut back on his right selling 2 defenders before curling in bottom corner past Lee Grant.

Robbo's goal against Man Utd (followed by his mad run), Rufus against Sunderland. (when it dawned on us that RUFUS HAD SCORED!!!) and the Powell knee goal.
  • Claus Jensen's 40 yards knee goal over fancy boy Weaver of Man City makes me chuckle from time to time especially after Weaver's antics!

82nd minute Jonathan Fortune - no contest.

Followed by Paul Miller's goal during The Battle of The Bridge which ultimately sent Chelsea down as well.
