As there is no football this weekend I thought those stat loving Lifers out there might like a bit of stat detail for the five matches so far. This information is taken from the "Squawka" website and if you want more information on how they work it all out then go to http://www.squawka.com/football-stats-definitions

    Stats can be mislead (or allow people allow themselves to be mislead perhaps) but interesting how far up that list JJ is, how his accuracy is the joint highest (other than Gomez who has only played 100 mins and Moussa 125 mins).

    Also JJ has the most key passes whatever that means.



    According to that Henderson kicks longer or more frequently long than Pope : - )

    No criticism of you LL, but I have always doubted OPTA. Ever since CP was selected for England, and the OPTA stats showed he was the worst defender in the Premier League.

    And as a former statistician before I retired, I can say this from experience!

    Key passes are usually ones that lead to an assist, like the cross to Wilson against Derby, or a pass that leads to a run and a shot or a penalty being awarded etc.

    Interesting stats, and back up how important Buyens has become to the way we play, a true playmaker for the team, and how by contrast someone like Cousins for all his qualities, needs to improve the quality of his passing.

    Is it worrying that our defenders have better passing stats than midfielders? I'd also be interested to see where our players are compared to others in the league.

    Again where stats are useful they don't tell the whole story. Defenders regularly have good passing accuracy simply because they have easier passes to make, i.e. passing back to the keeper, passing to each other or simple passes to midfield, highlighted by the drop in key passes made by them than compared to most midfielders.

    have you considered that Francis might have been good before Charlton as he certainly is good these days, maybe it was something about our team that just didn't bring out the best in him, which includes the booing he got from our "supporters"
