Haven't got time to read through all of this thread. But have just heard from a very reliable source that the fee for Poyet was £650k upfront rising to 1.2mil after certain clauses are met and that a friendly match will be arranged between the two sides with Charlton keeping the gate receipts.
Have we ever played a friendly as a result of a transfer?

A Charlton XI are playing Billericay in August after we took a striker from them on trial...
We sent a Charlton XI to play Bury Town in July 2012 (won 2-1) as part of the deal for Nick Pope.
What about players we have had stolen sold? We should have had one with Leeds when Bowyer went, never happen.
I've heard today it was £5-600k plus substantial add ons which could double the value.
Like when Poyet's played all 38 games for West Ham the season they win the title, capped by Uruguay/Spain/England or all of them, and then signs for Manchester United.
Feck him, he's gone, move on, the comments he made say more about him than us "new challenge blah blah blah" 22 games you cretin, no class,
Sorry chaps but have missed the bit of this thread containing what Diego said after signing for that lot. Any chance of a précis or directing me to which page it's on?

I don't question your information, but there is a problem with such friendly matches as we have covered before. The police are entitled to recover their costs in full and this in turn begs questions about whether the match is profitable, given low turnouts for friendlies. It's doubtful an adult price of more than £10 is sustainable, which means the average net ticket value to CAFC is only about £6. If you assume an attendance of £10k - which is optimistic - the gross revenue is £60k plus say £10k in ancillary income. In other words the club would do well to make £20-£30k from such a game, after costs.
I know there are people within the club who think you could charge £20 and would get 20,000, but that is unlikely for West Ham in the real world.
And, apart from anything else, it means that we as fans are contributing towards the fee for losing our own player!!
Far better for the Hamsters to give us the proceeds of one of their sold-out Premier League games... ;-)

It's massive to come to a Premier League club. It's what I wanted to do - I wanted a new challenge and soon as I heard there was a chance of stepping up I had to take it.
If the missus cheats on you, you move on in time, in the short-term you forswear the uncouth woman and bad-mouth her until you get it out of your system
The chance of playing and training with a premiership club or staying at Charlton
No brainer , if you have a brain that is
For all those so concerned about how much we get for him will you be wishing him future success so we benefit from the add ons or because he wouldn't tie himself down to us and potentially make a move elsewhere harder for your liking are you not that keen Maybe him and his old man aren't as confident, as Prague you suggest , hence they didn't want anything (like a fee) to get in the way of a move up
We all know Poyet has done what they (him and his advisers) consider is in his best interests (money and the challenge of top flight football) Unfortunately the romance and chivalry everyone wishes existed doesn't to much extent I'd have liked the club to have shown more loyalty to SCP or Riga but RD and his advisers done what they consider is best for him
My whole question of this network malarky is I've no real certainty that any funds we raise go back into the club, into the pool that could benefit other clubs, or into Starprix accounts. In that respect, it wouldn't really make much diff if we got 1m or 3m. It really does need to be used now like the Jenkinson money was.
The crux of the matter I think.
I know football is a fickle business and I sometimes wonder if the romance has gone. I have decided that thinking too deeply about multi team ownership / loyalty (lack of) / pure greed / undisclosed fees / secretive wheeling and dealing / non communication between club and customers etc.is not good for me.
From now on I will concentrate on Saturday afternoons only (TV companies accepting) when those old red shirts (oh er the white and red shirts ) run out to the ‘Red, Red Robin’ - blimey that’s due for a change too - isn’t it?

The club showed enough loyalty to powell, his sacking was long overdue IMO. But that's a different discussion for a different thread
My final word on this sorry subject is that those of us who pay into Valley Gold don't do it to make West Ham stronger. Poyet thanked Valley Gold when he won POTY - he can stick that thanks where the sun doesn't shine as far as I am concerned. He is nothing now- let's look forwards.
Of course, I'm disappointed that Poyet has left Charlton in the way he has.
But then he's a 19 year old kid, and 19 year old kids are not generally renowned for their maturity. That only comes with life experience.
As Ooaah points out above, Poyet was advised by others that there was an opportunity to quickly better himself, both in prospects and money - he grabbed it with both hands. And in his boots (if you are honest), you'd have no doubt done the same.
10 years ago before all this Facebook and Twitter shit (and Charlton Life), it's unlikely that you would know anything except what you'd read in the newspapers. Nowadays it's unfortunate that many players (or anybody really) feel the need to expose their personal thoughts and feelings all over social media for every Tom, Dick and Harry to instantly gobble up and cast judgement over.
But Poyet has gone now.
In the immortal words of Chris Powell, we move on.
Delph rumoured to be joining West Ham. So that'll be Nolan, Noble, Kouyate, Morrison and Delph all ahead of Poyet in central midfield. Enjoy that new challenge Diego.

Can I just ask have you spoke to Sam Allardyce, do you know they will all be ahead of Poyet or is it just a guess?

Easy Paulie.
Don't have an opinion red, especially on a forum of all places!
If he'd chosen to stay with us i'd have thought he had no bollocks or faith in his own ability , why mince around for a season or two at our club when he could potentially get among the big boys quickly
aim low and you wont be disappointed
or
Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.
in 20 years time when he's given up playing that extra million or so he didn't donate to Charlton/Roland/Standard/Upjest etc will be paying for his kids school fees/third divorce/gambling problem/drug habit/drink problem/hospital for poor children or whatever he chooses to do with his dosh
good luck to him
he who dares Rodders
Read the final paragraph those who think he should have stayed.

Never said you cant have a opinion, but As soon as I say something people jump on it which Is why I now put IMO on most posts, the way he put it it was like he knew for a fact Poyet would have 5 players ahead of him
Can Admin put a flag in the title of this thread when there is something worth reading on it please? Ta. No offence intended to those posting so don't shoot me down.
To be fair, admin usually do amend the thread title when stories develop. Something along the lines of "EDIT: signs for arsenal page 31"
I'm off to Football Rumours to post a 'Poyet to Arsenal' story.
A friend was there. Said West Ham looked unbelievably bad and Poyet was pretty anonymous apart from a challenge for which he should have been sent off. The challenge was on a friend of his who plays for Stevenage, so there might be a bit of exaggeration in there.
