Sorry but I disagree West Ham are an established Premier League club with a much, much bigger fan base than us, a much higher profile, a much bigger transfer budget, a much bigger wage budget and historically won much more than us.
We had our little stint where we were above for a while but lets not act as if we are anywhere near the size club that West Ham are whether you like them or not.
Its a step up that he could realistically make instead of one where he would rot in the reserves.

He stayed at Charlton as we'd give him a chance in the first team if he was good enough. He's now gone to a club in the Prem who shouldn't be fighting relegation and he has a decent chance of playing regularly.
It's a good move for him and as much as I didn't want him to go it's better than seeing him follow Kasey Palmer etc to the top clubs where he'll probably neve play for the first team.

You would imagine that being voted player of the year would be of benefit to the club in any fee negotiations. That and the size of the contract Poyet was offered and how it compares to others in the squad. I think the club should be looking for a big sell on clause at the expense of up-front cash if they can get it.

Also it's being assumed he just blew us off without any consideration, which I doubt is true. We have no idea what his motives were and if he felt like he owed us something and if it was difficult for him to make. Ultimately he's responsible for his life/career only and had to make a decision. Time will tell if it was the correct one for him but on the face of it, probably is.

Pritchard we gave a chance to become a pro footballer, he didn't grab it here but he'll almost certainly become one at another club. Do you really think he'd have thought he'd be a pro footballer right now back in 2010?! Gower has had a long career and played in the premier league in the modern era. Jordan cook we didn't give much of a chance to but we still invested wages and resources into him and when some one isn't delivering what you're paying for and when their contract is up they should go.
As for given "better oppurtunities and pay" if i was trained by a company for 7 and a half years, worked 6 months and was then promised a pay rise to £500,000 a year, i might think they'd be absolutely livid with me if i went to a larger company just round the corner to do the job youve spent 7 and a half years training and putting money into me.
