... As in players from any team in the flesh. This could throw up some interesting lineups given our respective ages. Mine would be:

Buffon
Zanetti-Nesta-Cannavaro-Maldini
Seedorf-Pirlo-Kaka-Nedved
C. Ronaldo-Henry

I have seen Maradona kick a ball but I don't quite think that counts, unfortunately.

I'd say player but whatever really, we all rate individuals in different ways.

A PL team mainly, though I nearly included Buffon and Pirlo as I have seen them in a friendly. Was scratching my head for late 70s and 80s players that I had seen, but none seemed better than the ones I chose.

Not exactly an old side this..

    Cech
    Neville Terry Medel Baines
    Mascherano X.Alonso

  • The Arsenal side that battered us 1-4 at Highbury. Could have been 6-0 or more before the first goal went in.

    Ok ok....that is surely unbeatable.

Begs the question ..would these players be as good today if we had a hypothetical time machine? Has the standard risen as players are faster, fitter, stronger and can now do technical moves that would have set your head on fire if pulled out randomly in a game 30 years ago?

Personally I think if you could transport Ronaldo, Messi and Zidane into the 1970 World Cup they would hammer that Brazil side! Now that's some claim. Of course after 20 minutes the old school would kick them off the park as the rules have changed.

@Tutt-Tutt‌ - You certainly know your football. Having seen different generations live, what do you think?

Almost impossible. Here's my immediate reaction. 4-2-4 and no balance.

    G Banks (England)

    D Alves (Brazil)
    R Moore (England)
    F Beckenbauer (W Germany)
    R Carlos (Brazil)

    A Iniesta (Spain)
    D Maradona (Argentina)

    Ronaldo (Brazil)
    Pele (Brazil)
    Eusebio (Portugal)
    L Messi (Argentina)

Think I might have seen Cafu, but can't be sure so I've gone for Alves. Didn't see Cruyff unfortunately.
