So, the biggest unanswered question from yesterday is.............

Did anyone, and i mean ANYONE, understand a single word to that song they kept singing, which appeared to be in the style of Vic Reeves club singer.

it was to the 'can you hear the xxxx sing, noo noo) tune

As far as my southern ears could make out, i got

"Wi ba ere, ah ba ere, ooooh, ooooh,
Wi ba ere, ah ba ere, ooooh, ooooh,
Wi ba ere, ah ba ere,
ha bi ere, um bom ere'
oooooooo, oooooooooooooooh

It was sung in the more tuneful MLS/Portland Timbers style too which made it even harder to work out. All I understood was them singing about filling up their senses with a greasy chip butty.

Not sure on the lyrics, but it was accompanied by some nice standing on seats and a bit of body popping

I want to know why does " Valley Floyd rd "keep getting shorter ?. We used to sing the verse over and over , now we cant get past the first line without it stopping and everyone clapping.

Would really appreciate someone enlightening us on the lyrics. Couldn't work it out for the life of me!

Almost right! It's Shoreham boys not northern.

Shoreham is the road that runs by the side of the ground and the kop is the Shoreham kop. The actual song is retro, we used to sing it in the sixties and seventies and for some reason we've started singing it again!.
Absolutely no idea why but it seems a bit of a laugh and I actualy enjoyed singing it on Sunday.
The reason you probably couldn't understand it apart from our accent is probably because most just mumble the line about shagging your women out of respect for women and kids present.

    Hope that helps.

  • Oh and there's another Shoreham boys we are here line just before the shag your women part!

Thanks Blademan, I think AFKA was getting his lyrics mixed up with some of the songs they sing at the sheep fanciers club ;-)

I wouldn't bother sensoring it for women and kids our male supporters don't refrain when singing "tits" on the South London song I just change the word to something else equally sexist :-)

Good song that, I'll try to listen more carefully next season. In the Championship, that is.

Incidentally, what is that tune, as I'm struggling to remember the original song it was taken from?

It's shorter and about 3 times the speed. Could barely get the words in yesterday.

Annie's Song by John Denver. Most inappropriate for hard northern men.

They were prob singing "hark now hear the United sing the webdesday ran away. And we will fight forever more because of boxing day"

Wednesday sing the same but no idea why United sing it cos it relates to when they were spanked by Wednesday on boxing day.

No, it's their other song, Shoreham boys, sung to the "Can you hear the **** sing, no, no" etc!
