Based on another thread what is your ideas on a starting eleven for the 2018 world cup?

    Tough one this !
    we seem to have a dearth of attack midfielders (Oxlade-C, Wilshere, Wellbeck, Walcott etc) but the place I don't see anyone on the horizon for is centre mid ... the 3 go to guys are all 30+ - Gerrard, Lampard and Carrick.

    Baines (will be 33)/Gibbs/Rose
    Cahill
    Jones/Smalling
    Wilshere
    Barkley ?!?
    Walcott/Oxlade-C
    Townsend ?!?
    Wellbeck/Sturridge

    There'e bound to be someone who will break into the team in a few years time and be a regular - bit like Lambert a few months ago.

    Struggling though .....

    Rodwell might be getting a game at city by that time
    Not sure about Butland - why haven't they loaned him out ?!?
    Forster for me all the way if Hart continues to forget what he's doing

    Amazing how quick things can turn around though these days. Players get catapulted from Championship/League One to the English national team in a matter of months. Very possible there will be a number of players in our side in 2018 who haven't even signed a professional contract yet.

    Who is this Walcott character ? I would have Ahearne-Grant instead of Sho-Silva. The way things are going with the finances that could well be the team in a year or two.

    Any combinations of all the above plus a couple of players that are 13/14 at the moment but have been hyped up by our press to be the next messi, when in reality they are the next Paul rideout.

    I think we will see Forster dislodging Hart at some point rather than Butland. Heard a few reports that he is very solid and reliable for Celtic and has impressed against Barcelona the few times they have played them over the last few seasons.

    I think I saw one of the Barcelona players this week talking him up and saying he would do a great job for them.

    If Forster does get into the side, then it is only a matter of time before the support and the media try and bring him back down again as soon as an error is made.

    Always seems the way with English goalkeepers.

    Chris Powell will be England manager one day. If he manages successfully in the premier league for 4/5 seasons, the job is his. Used to work for the fa and the kind of trustworthy guy they would want on a personal level.

    Anybody think Shelvey might get a call up? Don't think he would be put straight in the first 11 but interested in people's thoughts on whether Wilshere and Jonjo could work well together in midfield?
    Thinking more that they are young and we need to be looking at giving experience to players of the generation after Gerrard and Lampard..
