Bizarre that we deemed him not good enough at 12, yet just 3 years later he was playing league football and within 5 years playing in the premier league for Liverpool.
You'd assume he must've been pretty good at 12.1 -
We cant keep them all though can we... Your hear plenty of cases that when a youngster is let go its sometimes a kick up the arse they need - They then go to a lower club and knuckle down0
-
I understand that but my point is that if he was good enough to be playing league football at the age of 15 you'd assume he must've shown some promise at 12. There can't be too many kids playing in the league at 15.
It's not as if he disappeared off into non league and worked his way back in his mid 20s.0 -
I s'pose though it doesnt matter if your 12 or 15... If for example your attitude isnt quite right then the club is gonna let you go0
-
If we get through the cup tonight, what's the chances of us being drawn against them and he plays.0
-
Be a much needed match if it could be held at Liverpool0
-
He was only with us for one season then was released, not really given much of a chance, but the person making the decisions at the time didn't like him. That's football.

He was 12, there are so many things that happen to kids between 12 and 15, there are all sorts of reasons. including predicted growth, maturity, sociability. We really should not be worrying about kids not making the grade at 12. Next thing you know we'll be worried that we did not spot potential of a fetus conceived in SE7.0
-
His agent at the time demanded a life times supply of Haribos. All we could offer were kit-kats. Typical bloody Charlton........................0

One of the Premier League lesser lights but can still drive a Bentley, well not drive judging by this incident.2

That's quite a stylish ram-raid. Bollocks to going for it in an old Transit.....clive said:The Premier League player Jordon Ibe will face trial for allegedly driving away after crashing his Bentley into a coffee shop this summer.

Charlton reject.

I see that the Magistrate's name is Philip Widdowson. I wonder if this is the same person who used to be Manager of the Cheltenham & Gloucester BS in Sidcup?0

Not a big enough fine for me but that is the world we live in now, I just hope all those that suffered losses managed to get it back via Insurance.clive said:A Premier League footballer who crashed his Bentley into a coffee shop has been fined £7,500 and banned from driving for 16 months.

There is a great line in that report..... “returned to the coffee shop that afternoon to find it closed“ how could it be closed? - he took front of it out!clive said:A Premier League footballer who crashed his Bentley into a coffee shop has been fined £7,500 and banned from driving for 16 months.

In Finland certain fines are “means tested” and I wonder if this would be an idea over here. It’s unlikely £7.5k is much of a deterrent for the situation. The shops may well get their money through insurance but their premiums will no doubt rise!eaststandmike said:

Why did he drive off? Is there more to it?
disappointing verdict really.0 -
The shops insurance will claim back from his insurers.....therefore the shop owners future premiums should not be affected.Swisdom said:

Jordon Ibe has revealed he is in rehabilitation to improve his mental health and become a better person after 'making poor judgements.'
Bournemouth winger Ibe has apologised and sought help after being stopped by police while driving without a licence.

You have to laugh - driving without a licence and then fleeing the scene of the offence has got nothing to do with mental health. In fact it’s an insult to people who do suffer with it.clive said:Jordon Ibe has revealed he is in rehabilitation to improve his mental health and become a better person after 'making poor judgements.'

How do you know Jordan Ibe does not have mental health issues that led him to act in the way he has? Mental Health issues can manifest themselves in many different ways, and it's quiet insulting to instantly dismiss someone based off your own prejudices.ricky_otto said:

This. People throwing round the old mental health card as an excuse for their bad behaviour. Bloke was pissed out of his head, done a runner and got caught. Do we know if attending rehab was part of his sentence? Bet his lawyer put it on the table for a softer sentence.ricky_otto said:
