    8. Its a little known fact that the movie Top Gun was a blatent rip off of the low budget pornographic film Drive On, based at the Wolverhampton training camp of elite Eddie Stobbard drivers. This is an extract from the original film

Maverick: Jesus Christ, and you think I'm reckless? When I drive, I'll have you know that my vehicle and my load come first.
Charlie: Well, I am going to finish my sentence, Norman. My review of your delivery performance was right on.
    Maverick: Is that right?
Charlie: That is right, but I held something back. I see some real genius in your reverse parking, Maverick, but I can't say that in there. I was afraid that everyone in the tax trailer would see right through me, and I just don't want anyone to know that I've fallen for you, and that heavy load of yours.

  • 10. Although inhabitants of Wolverhampton are widely known as "Yam Yam's", it's a common misconception that is a swipe at the drawling local dialect. It's actually a reference to the fact that Yum-yums - the doughnut twist type of confectionary - we're invented there by William "Yum-yum" Smethwick back in 1807, although the drawling local dialect has bastardised this over time.
  • 11. Wolverhampton is home to Marstons, the UK's leading independent brewing and pub trade business. In recognition and celebration of their close links with the football club they have produced many beers for sale exclusively in and around Molineux. "Billy's Best", named after Billy Wright, was the first back in 1950's and a more recent best seller was a special "Oooh Bully Bully" lager produced during the 80's and 90's.

Unconfirmed reports say that the current "McCarthy's Mild" is not proving as popular with the fans as despite looking good and promising much it just doesn't deliver.
