Loic Remy arrested for rape

Was just reading that on the BBC and was thinking there's another potential Tottenham transfer target in the bin already.0

QPR just keep giving. Bet they wish they'd let Newcastle pick him up from the airport now!0
-
Another person named before being convicted or even charged . It's so wrong .0
-
Leaving aside the seriousness of the allegation, QPR would have budgeted on him leaving in the summer if they went down. Assuming the trial won't be for some time, unless they drop charges, do they
1) Keep him on in the Championship at his current wages, after all Ched Evans played on until his trial
2) Loan him out to a club prepared to take him on
3) Sack him, thus losing any transfer fee?0 -
they'd surely have to keep him. Who else would pay his wages?
Never going to sack him unless he's found guilty.0 -
Who would be up for 2 and how could they justify 3 ?killerandflash said:Leaving aside the seriousness of the allegation, QPR would have budgeted on him leaving in the summer if they went down. Assuming the trial won't be for some time, unless they drop charges, do they

Surely another team would take him on loan, especially if the costs were not too great.
After all he's innocent until proven guilty, and if he gets off QPR could sell him then, or take him back if they have been promoted by then.0 -
I agree, he will be labelled a rapist now for the rest of his career even if he is not charged.Bedsaddick said:Another person named before being convicted or even charged . It's so wrong .

I'd presume they would be able to loan him out, maybe to a foreign country where, ahem, it might not be such an issue...
A different situation, but didn't Spurs loan out Ardiles and Villa during the Falklands War as their playing in the UK at the time was deemed untenable.
It no other club wanted him, and QPR genuinely couldn't pay his wages (unlikely with their backer) then they might be reduced to finding a loophole to end his employment, which would be drastic and risky, and lose the transfer fee, but would save his £3m a year wages...0 -

The bloke has been arrested on suspicion of raping someone, a grotesque and horrific crime if true. Why on earth are people worrying about wages and budgets?!0

Because this is a football messageboard?cafctom said:The bloke has been arrested on suspicion of raping someone, a grotesque and horrific crime if true. Why on earth are people worrying about wages and budgets?!

But there might be bail issues regarding leaving the country, if so, that would rule out any move abroad for the time being..............killerandflash said:I'd presume they would be able to loan him out, maybe to a foreign country where, ahem, it might not be such an issue...

Of course it's possible that no charges will be pressed (is that the right wording) and he will be released and free to carry on his normal life - save for the fact that he will be labeled as a rapist by those that fail to understand the difference between being arrested and being found guilty.0
-
Apparently he has an escape clause in the event of The (not so) Super Hoops getting relegated - does that mean they've dug a tunnel for him under the wall of Wormwood Scrubs??
Sorry I will get me coat................

He looks a very good player, someone will take him at a discount price because that's the way football works - doesn't matter how much of a c**t you are if you're a good player and don't matter how nice you are if you're a crap player. Some clubs would give Hitler a 5 year contract if they thought he'd bag 25 goals a season (not comparing Remy to Hitler - innocent until proven guilty and all that).0

No one will take him if he's awaiting trial for rape. Who would fork out millions to sign a player who might get sent to prison?
Obviously if nothing comes of it then he'll have a queue of clubs waiting to sign him though.0 -
Thought Hitler played in goal.0

Thought Hitler played golf, he spent a lot of time in a bunker.0

Write a get out clause into his contract. QPR will just sack him for gross misconduct if he goes down, it'll be worth the hit on potential transfer fee just to get him off their totally unsustainable Championship wage bill.Chris_from_Sidcup said:Exiled_Addick said:He looks a very good player, someone will take him at a discount price because that's the way football works - doesn't matter how much of a c**t you are if you're a good player and don't matter how nice you are if you're a crap player.
