They obviously did give a quarter as would have been in their contract to lose.
I reckon would have been same result as the rehearsals.

No different from most soap operas that people spend a lot of their lives watching.

The athleticism shown is unbelievable, especially considering the size of some of them!

The main difference being that Soap Operas masquerade as Soap Operas, Wrestling masquesrades as a sport.

So it was not two fierce warriors nobly battling each other with the contest ending with a knowing look between the two opponents that although that battle had finished, there was still a war to be fought?

Sports Entertainment actually. Not sure why you have such an issue with it. Has it hurt you in some way?

Ah, Sports Entertainment - of course. Thats the answer then.

    Only 2 problems with it...
    1) Its sh1te and an insult to peoples intelligence (as are Soap Operas BTW).
    2) This thread is on 'Other Football and Sports' - maybe if it were to be re-classified then i would be a happy bunny - is there a section for 'Sports Entertainment'?

If the category that a discussion is in on a forum causes so much dismay for you then I think there may be other issues that need looking at.

no coincidence that NK was threatening to blow up the world as Wrestlemania was approaching.
  • It has never, and will never be a sport.

It has never, and will never be a sport.

No-one has ever tried to say it's a sport.
  • Oh but they have.

I think you'll find that 99.999% of people who are aware of it know that it is rehearsed and the organizations know that as well and are pretty open about it. Therefore, not an insult to people's intelligence.

Its just a bit of escapism, like going to the theater or watching a cheesy action movie.

Though its pre determined, people do get hurt doing it and you'll be amazed at the amount of young deaths involved at the top level.

    Oh but they have.

    Nope. Always been 'Sports Entertainment'.

Outside of small children no-one believes it's real. It's basically insulting someone for believing that 24 is a documentary. Or The Walking Dead is based off real-life events.

    "Yep."

I know plenty of bellpieces who talk about wrestling and football in the same breath, as if they're one of the same. I've made no reference whatsoever to soap operas or dramas, or a comparison between the three.

Don't say that Leroy, you're bound to upset the sport entertainment fans.

'Wrestling is fake' is so 1990s. I was into it as a young teen and no one was stupid enough to believe it to be real or call it sport. It was a laugh, exciting, very impressive at times and there were often women not wearing much.

These days I have no interest and from what I've heard it has gone way downhill but sod it, if you don't like it's very easily avoided. It's not like it's shoved down your throats like a lot of reality shows.

I liked Giant Haystacks vs Big Daddy! World of Sport at 1pm on a Saturday afternoon. That was far more entertaining.

Had the PPV finished after Undertaker/CM Punk i'd have been pretty happy.

But the final two matches were way below what i'd hoped. Cena/Rock especially.

Lesnar V HHH was pretty good too. The rest was absolutely woeful!!
