Introduction

Saturday sees 14th place Charlton travel up north to face 16th place Huddersfield who have recently started to pick up a few more points after a poor start to 2013. It will be the third time that the Addicks have faced Huddersfield this season, but the first time they will face the Terriers managed by Mark Robins who was appointed last month in place of Simon Grayson who was sacked after the Huddersfield's dip in form during January.

Chris Powell’s men will be hoping that their impressive away form can come into place against Huddersfield and increase their current position so that it gives a bit more of a breathing space from the relegation zone.

The Opposition

Huddersfield have the same amount of points as Charlton this season, with both sides picking up 44 points during the campaign so far. However, Huddersfield have a far worse goal-difference compared to the Addicks, due to the Terriers conceding 62 goals this season which is the 3rd worse in the Championship.

Since Mark Robins took over in the middle of February, Huddersfield have started to pick up a few more points despite conceding 10 goals in the first two games that Robins was in charge of. In their last four matches, the Terriers have picked up 7 points including a 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough in midweek.

The man who got the winner in that 2-1 victory against Boro was Danny Ward who featured for Huddersfield for the first time since December following knee and foot injuries. Due to his impact midweek, Ward is likely to start on the left side of midfield meaning Chris Solly will need to keep him quiet. On-loan striker James Vaughan is still suspended, so Lee Novak is likely to continue upfront. Other threatening players include ex-Palace midfielder Neil Danns and playmaker Adam Clayton.

The Line Up

With Yann Kermorgant serving his last game through suspension, it is likely that Danny Haynes and Ricardo Fuller will continue up-top with Jonathan Obika pushing for a starting place. After a bit more attacking 4-4-2, worked quite well going forward against Peterborough in midweek, I wouldn’t be surprised if Powell kept the same formation for the match against Huddersfield were three points would be excellent.

One change though that may occur is the return of Ben Hamer in goal after he was dropped for David Button after a recent dip in form. However, after a soft equaliser was conceded against Peterborough on Tuesday night, Powell may opt to recall Hamer. Leon Cort missed Tuesday’s game following an injury suffered against Burnley last weekend, but he may return at least to a place on the bench or the starting eleven in place of Matt Taylor if fit.

The midfield is expected to be the same, although Andy Hughes will be pushing for a starting spot and so too will Dale Stephens if he recovers from a training injury which has ruled him out of the last two fixtures. Youngster Callum Harriott should keep his place after an impressive second half midweek.

The Prediction

1-0 away victory for the Addicks.

We must start thinking about next season too and give the 'potentials' more match time whenever we can and that should definitely include callum harriott, and I also think Wagstaff. I dont think he's had a bad game even if he's made the odd defensive error.. Haynes is a must but not out on the wing. I would be happy with a draw. Fuller looks tired.

Really tough game this one but won't stop the moaners coming out in force if we don't win 6-0. Adam Clayton is a top player in this division and we have to keep him quiet. Head says a defeat so I'll be happy with a draw here.

Tentatively going for 1-1. Got a feeling that ours might be a penalty.

Wasn't planning on going but a couple of mates are and I'd only be sat here bored.

I am sick of the Udders this season. The deserved last minute equaliser was as sickening as seeing fattys belly in the cup. Not a happy hunting ground in recent years and I think the worrying will persist as we go down 2-0.
  • 2-0 defeat, I fear. It's a tough place to go.

Not a good place for us in recent times. 2-0 defeat and right in the relegation battle.

Have a poor record at the Galpham. Terriers are strong at home. 0-2.

Without wanting to sound overly optimistic I reckon that 3 points on Saturday will virtually make us safe. Seven of the teams below us are not all going to get 48 points. Given we seem to be a totally different team away from the valley there is no reason why we should not get something. Huddersfield are not much better than us if at all although they have new manager momentum on their side. Very difficult game to call. I'd be tempted to go 4 5 1 leaving fuller out and playing Haynes through the middle with Stephens returning if fit. If not probably Dervite. Draw.

I have no good memories of matches at Hudds but maybe the stadium name change will also change our luck so I'm going for a nervy 1-2 win, oh yes and snow is forecast for Saturday afternoon.
