Can somebody please explain how "f*cking shite" is not Foul and abusive language... or are football players really as stupid as they make out?!

You're totally right but I think the difference is that what he claims to have said is only a yellow card where accusing a ref of cheating is deemed more serious and gets a straight.
Considering it was Graham Poll reffing, either would have been a fair comment!0 -

If they sent players off for that every game, Rooney would still be at Everton.
He'd play a maximum of 4 minutes and get a straight red. Would probably only play a cumulative 45 mins over a season!0 -
