Hear that he might be going to Hull, is it me or are you all getting the impression he will just keep getting sacked and going to average teams for the rest if his career? Gone to Birmingham, Sunderland and now maybe hull, with nothing immensely special under his belt....

Oh I don't know, he's got a pretty impressive gut under it

    And Sheff Utd and Huddersfield.
  • Birmingham and Sunderland were in the Premier League. I wouldn't call them average clubs. I know they're not Man Utd, but I suspect he was on a good wage and I think he did ok at both of them - neither got relegated on his watch, so that could be considered a success I suppose.

He'll stay at Hull just long enough for a bigger club (which is probably not hard, to be honest) to come knocking and then he'll just leave them in the lurch and move on again.

He's tended to move upwards (except perhaps with the Birmingham to Wigan move) but has reached the limit of his ability, so will have to start sliding down the managerial ladder...

Did an excellent jon at Wigan, helped develop the likes of Valencia and Palacios as well as got the best out of Heskey, all three were sold for very tidy profits. In 2007/2008 when he took over,, they were looking doomed until Bruce came in.

Did a decent enough job at Brum (getting them up twice and keeping them there for a few years) and imho he did not flop at Sunderland, if he was not a geordie then he would have lasted longer. Suffered last season as they'd sold Bent, whilst Gyan and Welbeck also left.

Not a top 4 boss, but a decent Premiership manager. Good appointment for Hull if it comes about.

I've a feeling that Steve's best managerial days are behind him. He looks like a man who nowadays would rather be in the saloon bar than on the training ground. However, as a hatchet man he could do a good job and Hull needs a bit of a 'refurbishment' amongst the playing staff.

If Sunderland are average it can only logically follow that we are 'below average' because we play in a lower league than them.
Are we below average as a side? Of course not,how could we be as recent champions of our respective league?
The statement about Sunderland simply wasn't specific enough. Average Premier League would have done it.
