Glad they sorted it out, when I asked Thursday night I was told it didn’t count.
Not sure to what extent Clare at NAAddicks swayed it but I know she made the very reasonable point to Tom Rubashow that a streaming subscription is over £200 a year and therefore in the ball park of some season tickets to the Valley. I was limited to less tickets than if I’d been a season ticket holder but it was enough for what I need and means I’m not left regretting booking flights in faith that I’d get tickets. I think it’s fair and thank the club for doing it. It’s shows they do listen to feedback sometimes.
Hmmm
I don’t normally criticise the priority levels as I think in the main they are fair but I’m not sure paying £200 to watch on TV is comparable to someone spending money on a ST, travelling to and from the game every week, potentially spending more on food, drink, programmes etc, and also its in the ball park the cheapest season tickets, some people pay £450+ but they’re not given any higher priority.
Just using my Dad as an example, pays for a season ticket, gets the valley express in to every game which I think is £16 a go on top. It’s surely about more than just the cost of a ticket.
Personally I’m not sure it’s right season ticket holders should be competing for the better seats with people who watch from an armchair 100s of miles away.
Still, decision is made now.
My suggestion was a tier between season ticket holders and people on the database. I think that would be fair, but I know some disagree.
do you have any concept of how many different CAFC fans might have attended games this season? Obviously you have 8,500ish STHs but then the match by match sales, I guess there are many fans who might have attended only 1 or 2 or handful of matches.
No real reason for the question other than wondering out of interest as a comparison! E.g. if circa 25,000 CAFC fans have watched us at home at some point during this season, Vs whatever the final tally of our Wembley sales is.
Not really. I don’t think the club does either. There will be swathes of people who have bought tickets without allocating them, so there is no way of knowing how much duplication there is. You could probably come up with a minimum number using purchase records but a maximum would be hard.
i think we also assume it’s easier to define a fan than it is. Partners, friends and tourists may not be fans, but if they have attended once or more are they included? How many times makes them a fan?
I’ve never really been convinced by the idea of “hangers-on” at big games either. There won’t be many in the Charlton area who are there to support Orient or vice versa. How do we measure their fandom?
I hate the term “hangers on” every single one of us was that once ! Of those people attending this Sunday some of them will become (unfortunately for them lol) fans of the future ! As we have witnessed our fan base has been dwindling in recent years we need to encourage a few more “hangers on”

I think the Charlton TV season ticket holders only got access yesterday quite a few hours after it went live at 3pm, so the 'competing for better seats' isn't really true.
Also theres many that wouldn't have even known about it, as it was mentioned very late. There are even ones like Callum, who unfortunately only found out about the priority today.
I've not seen someone post a single bad view yet, infact everytime someone posts theirs, I'm getting seat envy. What a stadium.
my son has just told me my seat is 12 back from the pitch right behind the goal - bet that view aint great - and its just me and the wife sitting together !!!
thanks - as a north upper i'm used to more of an overview but was in a similar spot in 2019 so sure i'll cope - i'm not hugging the wife if we score though !!

Resigned to a small car parking space at Wembley watching the stream on my phone in the car with the family in the back seats looking over my shoulder..

Ah, you say that now...
i say that because she doesn't read the forum !!! - she's a full on plastic

Doesn't matter, if we score you'll be hugging everyone within reach, unless it's just a consolation goal.
If I’ve already bought two and then want to buy another two, can I do that when it’s still in my eligibility criteria? I assumed so but keep getting an error on the website. I’m on my phone so can look properly on desktop in a bit.
I purchased 2 then a few hours later another 1 and that wasn't a problem for me.

You could always ask her to let you sit on her shoulders.😇

Trivial number tbf.
Of course, doesn’t mean it’s the right decision.
Perhaps phase 3 could have been Charlton TV subscribers AND Valley Gold, just a fairer comparable in my opinion.
It effectively was Phase 3 as I purchased today and access was not available to me yesterday and access today was only opened an hour after VG members had access. As I said I was also limited to less tickets than a full season ticket holder would get. The “better seats” were all already gone and we’re sat halfway back in the upper tier. Point is it moved me up from Phase 5. As Airman says we’re maybe talking about 100 ish fans in total who are possibly flying in from far flung lands for this so hardly going to be snatching tickets from home and away die hards.
Bear in mind I’m also dropping a couple of grand on this trip when you factor in flights, meals, hotel, transport etc. I realize that money doesn’t go to the club but as someone who was a home and awayer, and a sometime season ticket holder, for 25 of my 35+ years as a fan, despite formerly living in the West Midlands, and having been a subscriber to the streaming service since day 1, as well as still spending money in the club shop and attending games when I have visited family, I feel I have earned my stripes and my commitment to the club is not really up for question.
Given the time and financial commitment involved in getting to this match, and the fact that I did the hard miles when I lived in the UK, and have continued to support the club to the best of my ability while abroad, I can’t see why anyone would begrudge me, or others willing to make the commitment to fly home, a small concession to ensure we get tickets and our journeys are not wasted.
Wembley has a 90,000 capacity and we’ve been given roughly 37,000 as an initial allocation.
The 90,000 capacity is split in tiers: 34,300 in the lower tier, 16,500 in the middle tier and 39,200 in the upper tier.
Judging by comments on here, it sounds like the bottom two tiers have gone and about 20% of the upper tier too.
If Charlton have all but sold out the bottom two tiers, given the club’s split of the capacity that’s already been allocated, that’s a little over 24,000 sold and almost 13,000 tickets remaining.

I honestly don’t begrudge anyone anything.
I even said on a subsequent post that I thought phase 3 would have been fair as it’s more comparable to just VG members, I just believe that ST holders are entitled to their own phase.
I read earlier in the thread that TV subscribers could enter into Phase 2 so I stand corrected anyway.

We were in row 13 (not unlucky) in 2019 - fantastic view of Naby’s mishap and Bauer in the 94th. Could even make out Ben Pur scoring at the other end. And to top it all, we could spot ourselves in the fabulous “arms up mouths open in unison” photo in Guardian Sport.
Nearly went for same again but instead luckily got tier two.
May try to move my seats, we can’t see the goals…😳
Not to worry mate, unlike the Valley and other football grounds, the seats at Wembley are swivel chairs to make up for the size of the place, you won't miss any of the action.

That was what Tom originally said he was trying to do (but limited to 2 tickets). However, the reality of when this news broke, time zone differences, and the time required to review and approve requests for priority upgrade meant the access wasn’t granted until Phase 3 anyway. Anyway, all good, I’m just going to stick up for myself in terms of my credibility as a fan. If I hadn’t made the choice for my family to pursue a better life overseas, I’d have been to many games this season.
If I’ve already bought two and then want to buy another two, can I do that when it’s still in my eligibility criteria? I assumed so but keep getting an error on the website. I’m on my phone so can look properly on desktop in a bit.

Just grateful to the club for four seats together
Cant wait now, great view for the boy.
They've only sold 10,000 as of this morning and were allocated same as us, nearly 37K.

You have fabulous seats.
