Premier League 24/25

As its 1st July and the transfer window for the new season is officially open, I thought it was time to start a new thread.

Looks like Spurs have got their first transfer of the window in the bag - Archie Gray from Leeds on a 6yr deal for a fee of £25m + Joe Rodon going the other way.
Which I would imagine now means that Emerson Royal is going to get shifted on at the earliest opportunity.

  • What's the "Premier League" and what's it got to do with us?

    Isn't Gray a CM?

I thought he mainly played as a RB but is comfortable filling in as a no.6.  You'll probably know more than me, thats what I've been told by my Leeds mate, who's got the raging hump thinking they were going to get £50-60m for him.
  • Gray is more of a cm but filled in at full back for Leeds last year.
  • Elsewhere, deals of note, Douglas Luiz - the main stay of Villa's midfield for the last couple of seasons, coveted by Arsenal, has signed for Juventus for a fee in excess of £45m.

Presumably keeps them afloat of the PSR target.  Newcastle, Everton, Villa, Forest and Chelsea have been doing some similar deals to get them within the bounds of PSR.  Guess we'll have to watch this space to see if it made a difference.

The main thing for Newcastle you would think is to keep the likes of their squad together, especially Isak who's had every club in the top six sniffing around him this summer.

Newcastle are fine now i believe after the two sales they made yesterday.
  • Ross Barkley has joined Villa.
  • He was class for Luton

It's an elite club for toffs:
Unfortunately we got thrown out after turning up without a tie and hole in our shoes just as it was turning into a financial monster.
Just a part of our history and not our future😟
  • I wonder as I write whether anyone on Tottenham Hotspur life has just opened a thread on League 1 and has started it by speculating on whether our former captain is returning to the club in exchange for Alfie May who has now decided to move to Hungary instead of Birmingham. (I may have got that last bit wrong but it is all getting rather confusing now).

We've had a different thread on here for every PL season... its not out of the norm, is it?
As it happens, we do have a League 1/2 thread on our board... and I do post on it about Charlton from time to time lol.

    Fair play mate.

Actually I'm glad you opened the thread because every time Palace lose 2 games in a row we can post on here that this is the year they are going down!

    I live in hope!

We can all pray for the demise of the stripey nigels!

Hopefully that starts with Olise to Bayern and Eze to Spurs...

    And Gheui to Man Utd!
  • In an interesting development, Dele Alli has been offered the chance to do pre-season with Spurs.
Hopefully he use the opportunity to try and get his career back on track.  Would love to see him back as long as his head is now in the right place.
  • Wharton leaving them would also help. Praying that they receive £150m for all of that and then manage to spunk it on duds
  • Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Chelsea is done. Hopefully he's actually going to play and not benchwarm.

And dump the current manager and reinstate de Boer.

According to wiki Chelsea's first team squad is now 45 players.

I'm not surprised! I know they probably count the likes of Burstow who will probably be straight back out on loan but their squad just looks so badly imbalanced.

  • Missed it yesterday when it was announced but the Archie Gray to Spurs deal I can see looking very shrewd in a year. Looks a real talent even if I'm initially not sure where Ange will play him - I'm sure JohnBoy can give a better idea where he sees Gray fitting in between CM and RB.

I honestly thought he was more a RB than a CM but I've since learned it was the other way round (see above lol).

There's question marks over Hojbjerg, Skipp, Lo Celso and Bentancur... at least two of them will be leaving I would think, possibly three.  Hojbjerg and Lo Celso are into their last 12 months so every likelihood it will be them so he'll definitely be involved at CM at some point but I can see him covering/rotating at RB with Porro, especially with 2/3 games a week with the Europa League.  A lot of teams have been enquiring about Skipp, so possible he will move on too.

We also completed the signing of Lucas Bergvall on 1st July, a swedish 'wonderkid' wanted by the whole of Europe, who plays CM too.  The expectation is that he will be involved with the 1st team from the outset, so thats 2 of the CM places filled already.

I've also been wondering how good a team Chelsea would have had if they bought nobody and just kept their academy players.
  • Olise joins Bayern on a 5 year deal

The dismantling has begun! Fingers crossed Guehi is next
  • Interesting how Bayern are shopping in London at the moment. Kane and Dier from Spurs, Olise from Palace, Palhinha from Fulham.

Hate that they've made a £42m profit on him.
  • Every player we’ve ever sold might not add up to what they’ve sold him for , certainly not what him and Bassaka have gone for.
light years and road miles away from them bromley slags
  • "Manchester United have increased their offer for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite. The Toffee's rejected a 35m bid from United for the England international last month. It is understood the revised offer is about £45m."

Taking the absolute piss with those bids.

Would make him the joint 5th most expensive English defender of all time tbf
