Conor Coventry - no sign of an Ireland call up this time round.
Midfielder from West Ham

"He's very, very comfortable on the ball and knows his position really well. He's a good passer of the ball, with good technique, and he's got a steeliness to him as well which I like - a bit of nastiness to him. He's one who lives his life right and is a proper professional."

Pleased with this. Can’t say I’ve ever heard of him but pleased we’ve seen off Championship interest in him which when there’s competition is usually the sign of a good signing.
Well done the club getting it done.15 -
Pleased with this.
The little one won’t be getting Coventry on his shirt though, what a dump…4 -
And yes, it's on the OS: https://www.charltonafc.com/news/charlton-complete-conor-coventry-signing

semms just the type we need a bit of steel and nastiness in the middle, well done CAFC1

Don’t know much about him but sounds very promising, looking forward to seeing him play.
Looks like there will be a chunky sell on clause - no issue with that if it means we’ve got a very good player.
https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/charlton-athletic-complete-permanent-signing-of-west-ham-midfielder-conor-coventry/The Owls’ negotiations for the player were slowed as they struggled to agree sell-on terms with West Ham, who had initially been demanding 50 per cent.2 -
Fantastic signing that 👏🏼2

I don't know much about him but one potential anecdotal positive; I work with a load of west ham fans (i mean like 10 of them) and most are baffled they have even let him go, let alone to a league 1 side, and every single one has nothing but good things to say about him.35

I had never heard of him until a week or so ago but like the sound of him. The fact he was captain of West Ham youth and U21s Ireland suggests decent leadership qualities which we could do with. A reasonable level of experience.
He should be match ready so would hope he features tomorrow.
I have given Andy Scott plenty of criticism recently but fair play to him here.
I hope Coventry is the catalyst to get a few more over the line to really build a decent squad for a proper go next season.
Welcome Conor.8 - Sponsored links:

Obviously can’t really judge the signing until he’s bedded in and played some games, but by the sounds of it we’ve signed a player that other clubs were after, which augers very well.I want expecting that to be the case before the window opened. 👏👏3

Welcome Conor.
Nice to have an Irish midfielder following the footsteps of Matt Holland and the legendary Mark Kinsella.
Be a winner…..in every game between now and the end of the season, and beyond.
Good luck and best wishes, now score a hat trick against Peterborough in the first five minutes of the game tomorrow in order to establish yourself here😀8 -
Decent signing and good years on the contract. Good luck Conor 👍1

Something we have definitely been missing from our midfield, so glad they are looking to address it.3 -
Sounds positive though no idea if he's any good, people were raving about Terry Taylor when he signed so not getting too excited just yet. Good luck Conor.3

His performance at The Valley a couple of years ago was one of the best I've seen from an opposition player in League One. I was raving about it extensively at the time. He tore us to shreds. Amazing signing22
-
Not only did he tear us to shreds, but he played a pass that was so good it assisted Tennai Watson to score a goal. No offence Tennai but15
-
Seth beat me to it.
Please be in the same mold as Matty & Kins 🙏🏻🇮🇪💚2 -
Hopefully we'll sign Dave Daventry too, and make it a new mid(lands)field duo!
Seriously though, great credit to the club for what appears to be something of a coup. I never expected to be uttering such words this window.2 - Sponsored links:

English born, plays for Ireland, signed from West Ham.
Fingers crossed he's at the same sort of level!9 -
Very pleased, gives us some optimism for next season more than anything else but still a long way to go.1
-
It feels like a significant signing and you can already feel the morale lifting amongst the fans, which can only be a good thing. Fingers crossed we can get a few more similar calibre players through the door before Feb 1st.3
-
sounds promising. I'll celebrate this when we've seen whether he's actually any good though. Seen far, far, far too many championed signings being complete dogshite.1
-
Very good signing! Perhaps the SMT are beginning to walk the walk? Let's hope so!
Welcome Conor!3 -
Don’t know much about him but seems a bit of a coup for league one. The sort of transfer that may change the whole atmosphere around the club and be the start.
This seems the sort of player we should be looking to get in not good enough for prem club at the moment nearing the end of his contract with the ability to play a league above.3 -
3 1/2 year deal, sounds good and hopefully a sign of more to come...✅1
-
From my West Ham mate - all looks promising.

Brilliant signing, can't wait to see Micky Apples play him at left back...32
