The C***S has always worked for me.
  • The Sinkers?

  • I don’t get it, rename them what ?

  • The doggers it is.
  • Except it wasn't Millwall that dogged it out.
I agree with wheresmeticket, the thread makes no sense whatsoever.

That was duck tape but I agree.

they are called ‘spanners’ because one of them once threw a spanner onto the pitch during a game…it might have been the infamous Luton away game but somebody might need to correct me on that

Cawley’s post quotes ‘they threw the kitchen sink at us’ which I’d read as it being Millwall doing it

Aren't they called the spanners because The Den looks like a toolbox?

No, the above story is correct about the spanner being thrown on the pitch.

Think it was Reading away. The rusty toolbox is the place to keep spanners.
  • I thought they were The Spanners because they're a bunch of fucking idiots, and The Toolbox was because i) it looks like one from the outside and ii) where better to find a bunch of spanners than inside a toolbox

Ok thanks. So you want to rename them the kitchen sinkers.
I can't see that catching on somehow.

Correct, Elm Park mid 90s. Reference here: https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/the-roll-of-shame-6317387.html

(You have to scroll quite a long way down past all of their other misdemeanours to get to 1995).

Come on, we cant sink to new levels and just make up nicknames. It's just cringeworthy, shows a lack of understanding, no history and frankly is very very embarrassing to both parties.

Leave all that for the Glaziers, the Eagles, the Nigels Crystal Palace.
