Dear God, a summer of fans asking for us to sign Stockton and Eisa again. I hope they either sign somewhere very quickly (so I can stretch before the 'we should have signed Stockton/Eisa!' every time they score when the season kicks off), or sign them so we can complain about them as Charlton players
Stockton is being heavily linked with Lincoln, so you may get your wish!

With MK Dons going down I would like us to go for Mo Eisa
    And Jack Tucker?
Your judging that on the Tucker that played at Gillingham .. he not the same player at MK another who ability seems to have dropped .. Mo Eisa again based on few years back when we wanted him from Peterbro but he was non existent up there a few weeks ago

Warren O'Hora is the decent centre back at MK Dons, not Tucker.

All depends on whether it is 1 or 2 up top (for most part) next season? May has played in a front two and works off a second striker, meanwhile Morecambe play more one up top than two on average, so this will have to be taken into account. If we are playing a front three, just cannot see how May would work out so well? Stockton a better fit.
IF Aneke can stay fit, then him and Leaburn gives 2 decent number 9 options already, if we continue with our 433 system.

But we can't rely on him, as his fitness if anything seems to be getting worse, rather than better, so another number 9 would appear essential.

Stockton has had a very strange season. Below par (or reverting back to his previous level) for most of the season, only to come alive right at the end, when he's been lethal.

I said this time last year, we need to buy Alfie May and Cole Stockton. The fact we didn't, I knew by the end of August we had no chance.

The same stands for this season. Get them now.  Else it will be another embarrassing  year of mid table boredom and mediocrity.
Stockton scored 11 goals this season. 7 of them came in the last four games (two of them against us which barely counts) when Morecambe already had too much to do to stay up. They got relegated, partially because by the start of April their number 9 had scored 4 goals. That's what Stockley and Bonne contributed in their time with us this season. Stockton had a nice little flurry at the end but personally I wouldn't thank my striker for turning up after it's too late to avoid a slide into a lower league. The idea that he's going to fire us into a league above is not based in any reality, he's had one good season followed by a relegation form season

Neither of them are going to solve the real problem, which is not scoring goals but giving them away cheaply through overplay, basic errors or both.

Don't disagree that we could have done, and could certainly do with a new striker. Colby Bishop would have been my choice last season, and Aaron Collins would be my League One striker pick for this season going forwards. I would much rather we invested our money in a player who is young enough that we could then move on for money/might still have time to develop if we did get promoted.

Either way was scoring goals the issue that led us to an embarrassing year of mid table boredom and mediocrity?
5th highest goal scorers in the league, but 9th highest goals conceded and couldn't keep a clean sheet if our lives depended on it.

You see how much conceding a goal can change the flow and tactics of a game - and we were giving away sloppy goals for fun.

I will know by the end of August if we are in trouble if we have not addressed our defensive frailties.

    And Jack Tucker?
Is Jack Tucker not a bit of a myth? He got a free pass with Gillingham but that's two consecutive L1 relegations now with two different teams. He was brought in to replace Harry Darling and Dons conceded 22 more goals. Obviously not all on him but they conceded the same number of goals as we did this season, and I don't think anyone would say our defence is anywhere good enough. Is Tucker just overrated by us because he's from Kent, did a step-over once and always looked good against us (as every opposition player does)? He may look comfortable on the ball but his record indicates that he's a L1 footballer who will slide into L2 if the players around him aren't good enough rather than improving a team enough to push on, and we already have a squad of players like that.
Spot on. My guess is it's just because he's a (fairly) local lad.

If he played for someone like Accrington i doubt anyone would even mention him.

Lincoln finished on the same number of points as us, scoring 23 fewer goals but also conceding 20 fewer.

If nothing else we've provided better entertainment than Lincoln, who've been the most boring team in the division...

Tucker WAS hugely highly rated 2 years ago and is a very decent player however he stayed a year too long at Gills and the went to MK for the money.  Successive relegations will not have done his confidence any good.  He’d probably benefit from some time next to someone like Hector guiding him.  Could be Worth a consideration if the money were right.

Not sure Caulker would suit our team.  He’s a bit outspoken and could end up being a lightning rod for fans when things aren’t going well.  Having said that he could be the experienced head we need at the back

Didn't realise Caulker was only 31! Assumed he was like 36/37

Why is everybody going on about either getting forwards and defenders. It has clearly been a disfunctional midfield that has been our main problem. I keep banging on about it but titles are won and lost in midfield.

If Hector doesn't sign on. He might be a good option.
No, no, no. Was always injured when he was younger, played 9 games for Wigan, i think...

So based on our striker's heroics this season (excluding on having to rely on an 18-year-old kid from the academy and another from Palace) we clearly should have signed them, shouldn't we?

Both comfortably into double figures for relegated teams by the way...

I'm not sure that's right, MK Dons finished 3rd in 2021/22 playing great football. Last summer they would have seemed like a good move for footballing reasons.

Dobson, Fraser and Morgan together have been ok and great if we can bring in better but a myriad of Matt Smith's, Kilkenny, McGrandles, JFC (when fit) Watson etc
haven't been better than Dobson, Fraser and Morgan.
Henry has potential but making his debut at 16 has probably not helped and at 19 still needs to improve. TBF he still has time on his side and a half season loan in League 2 might help to get him up to speed in men's football

For Charlton fans who don't feel Albie has improved ( I do but we could get better) then can we get the players who will get us into the top 6 first before having a total cull or else we will have Kaikai and Bogle as strikers next season when Steve Gallen get his fifth choices in.
Stockton has only played for northern clubs or in Scotland and only came to life in the last four games of the season ! Looks a world beater against Cafc but...

Back in the hands of Thomas Sandgaard and the saga of new investment or new ownership.

Jordan Cousins was a CB when playing for England schoolboys and Chris Powell turned him into a midfielder. Now his legs have gone  he has the height and ability to be a CB in the lowly 3rd tier.
Would need to take a pay cut but home is where the heart is.
Fanny Fanackapan would be pleased 😄

Er no, Stockton would have been an expensive flop based on what he's done this season. 'Comfortably into double figures' is nonsense, he'd got 4 goals by April, which you'll note is as many as Stockley and Bonne had. If we'd spent hundreds of thousands on Stockton and by April he'd only got four goals people would have been losing their minds over what a bad signing he was, and a run of 7 goals in the last four games after the season had gone wouldn't have endeared him. Stockley got more L1 goals last season than Stockton did this season and we wanted an upgrade on Stockley.
I'd be perfectly happy if we signed Mo Eisa, he got 11 goals this season (again, generous description of being comfortably into double figures..) but he only came back to the team in October after about 6 months out so it's not a bad return. The thing is though, we just never sign him and his name has been coming up for years. He's our League One Darren Purse and it might be time for people to let him go.
Side note, but Leaburn got 12 goals this season despite picking up a couple of injuries. Saying 'excluding the striker who did well' to make a point about the other strikers being bad sort of spoils the point. If you exclude BWP from our 2011/12 season our top scorer only got 12 goals. Powell out!
